Bankruptcy:
The case was unopposed by creditors and bankruptcy was granted. I prepared and filed bankruptcy and attended mandatory meeting of creditors. No further court appearances were required.
Family Law:
The parties did not agree on child custody, support and division of property, and I contested the issues in court in order to obtain the required relief.

I started a part-time general practice (bankruptcy, family law, employment law, civil name changes) in the year 2000. I continued this part-time practice until January of 2009, when I opened my own law office primarily focusing on family law and bankruptcy.
I represent clients both in family law matters (divorce, parentage, child custody, etc.) and consumer bankruptcy (Chapters 7 & 13).
From July of 2004 through December of 2008, I was one of eleven associate attorneys in a law firm focused primarily on Family Law. Prior to this I was employed as a Senior Quality Engineer by the Boeing Aircraft Company.
• Volunteer mediator, L.A. Superior Court
• Pro Bono work for the Public Law Center in Orange County
Bankruptcy and family law cases involve a lot of detail work that is best done by the clients themselves because they have or can obtain access to all the financial documentation that must be presented to the court in these cases. Often a large portion of an attorney's bill is for performing this work for a client instead of reviewing the client's work. I prefer that clients do this work themselves and pay me only for work that requires an attorney to perform (eg. drafting motions, preparing judgments etc.)
I am very willing to review informational documents required by the courts in order to proceed with the client's case. I am more careful in committing to review client-prepared persuasive documents such as motions, declarations, and depending on the fee may limit my review to format - without investigating whether it is appropriate to file such a document or verify the effectiveness of the document based on the facts of the case. I do not believe review of bankruptcy filings is cost-effective - as it takes more time to check for errors than it does to simply prepare and file the petition from the information and documents provided by the client.
am willing, but in bankruptcy, I don't believe that this is cost-effective.
From early childhood, I've enjoyed studying and debating interesting issues. I went into law believing it to be an endeavor where I could earn money doing something I enjoyed.
I have a work and educational background in both law and technology. Consequently I am better positioned than most practitioners to take advantage of the great strides the legal system has made in the area of technology. My bankruptcy petitions are electronically filed and the resulting cost savings are passed onto the client.
Bankruptcy and family law often go hand in hand. Financial stress can cause divorce and a divorce often leads one or both parties into bankruptcy. I enjoy helping clients minimize the damage and helping them towards a "fresh start."
Each day is different. I am exposed to interesting issues and people on an almost daily basis.
My assistant is Cindy Walker. She has extensive experience in the legal field. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from U.C.L.A. and also earned a Juris Doctor degree. It is very rare indeed when one or the other of us does not personally answer a client's phone call.
I am a "straight shooter" and believe I project this characteristic in my interaction with the court, my clients and opposing counsel. I am thorough and persistent in my efforts on behalf of my clients.
I dabble in a few things. Every ten years or so I manage a trip to Britain - where I enjoy museums, castles etc. I enjoy helping my children with their school activities. I also enjoy sailing. We manage a trip to Yellowstone national park every couple of years where we enjoy camping, horseback riding, and fly fishing.
