I attend many continuing legal education classes which cover areas of the law both in and out of the areas where I usually practice - so that I maintain the ability to understand and recognize issues I may not otherwise know about.
It is important to know when to try a case and when to settle. In a recent divorce/custody case, the other side was unreasonable. We refused to take a bad offer and instead tried the case and got an order for everything we wanted, and more, concerning parenting time and contact with the children.

We try to resolve a legal problem first by taking a reasonable, fair and economical approach to the case. However, if the opposition is unreasonable or overreaching, we will not hesitate to take the case to trial. The way to win inside and outside the courtroom is to be well prepared, know the law, and accurately assess the facts on both sides of the case. We advise every client as to the law, what the options are, and what the risks and benefits of each approach may be.
Our attorneys regularly attend continuing legal education classes and seminars to constantly be abreast of changes in the law and new strategies and technology available to meet the needs of our clients.
This particular law firm was established in 2004; however, I have been practicing law since May, 1987.
Previously, I practiced law in Aurora, Colorado, and prior to that, in Denver with Thomas N. Scheffel & Associates.
I am an officer and on the board of directors for the Metropolitan Denver Chapter of the Christian Legal Society.
We welcome our clients to be informed on the aspects of law that impact their case as well as the procedures of the legal system in general. Clients that can effectively contribute to their legal matters help create a solid case that leads to the best outcome.
We also offer unbundled legal services and do-it-yourself forms to assist clients in handling legal matters on their own.
We frequently assist clients in this way through review of documents prepared by the client or by an opposing party. This allows clients to save money while still having the assistance and expertise of an attorney.
Many matters can be handled by the client with some direction from our attorneys. We are willing to assist in these matters and are prepared to step in, should the legal issues become too involved or complicated.
My father encouraged me to become an attorney. Also, because he was in the junk business (which later came to be called "recycling" and the concept became more popular), there was always someone from the government adding new requirements on the business because the scrap was so unsightly to have around. I felt that I needed to learn the law or our family would never be able to stay in business.
Law is not all that I do. I also have five children, ages 10 to 21, which keeps me very busy. We also have three other family businesses where I stay involved (two metals recycling businesses and a feed store). We also have worked for the last two summers in Zambia, Africa, with orphans and poor children.
My practice is a general practice with an emphasis on trial work. I love the variety because it is always new and interesting.
My calling is to help people in need. I love to win, so trying cases is a way to express my competitiveness.
The Pearman Law Firm, P.C. includes two other attorneys: Daniel Westhoff and Brad Daybell. Each of us has a background in a wide area of law. In addition, we have several secretaries and paralegals to give your legal matter the attention it deserves. We handle cases as a team. Being a smaller firm, all of the staff knows the clients and their cases and can work together to meet the demands of each client situation.
My strengths are that I have over two decades of experience, am a quick study, and can figure out what it will take to win and where the weaknesses in a case lie. I also am very good at being a peacemaker, which often reduces the already high costs of litigation.
I remain very involved with my church, love traveling and reading.
