Firm Focus and History

Our attorneys hold over a decade of experience serving clients in San Bernardino County. The founder of the firm left a mid-sized firm to provide a broader array of services to clients at a higher level. Having a smaller firm with a reasonable case load, we focus on clients with closer attention, develop more personalized legal representation.

Our firm focuses on the individual needs of our clients in the jurisdiction of San Bernardino County court in matters if divorce and other areas of Family Law. Our attorneys are always available to answer any questions. Each case is assigned to an attorney and a paralegal that are intimately acquainted with each client's case and desired outcome. Although we specialize in aggressive and zealous representation, our representation is strictly determined by the client's wishes - either aggressive or conciliatory. The client is always informed each step of the way so that a fully informed decision can be made. No other divorce lawyer in San Bernardino County offers more personal or aggressive divorce representation, whether it involves child custody, visitation rights, support, or other issues related to dissolution of marriage.

Previous Employment Summary

Prior to the founding of The Law Office of Michael R. Young, APC, I practiced at a mid-sized firm located in the Inland Empire. It was a litigation firm that demanded a high case load from every lawyer in a very specialized field. The narrow area of practice required short-term relationships and the inability to offer clients a broader area of representation.

Activities and Awards

I had an externship with the Honorable Robert Alberts, U.S. District Court, as well as with the Office of the United States Trustee.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

When clients retain the Law Office of Michael R. Young, APC to represent them through divorce the clients are fully informed about the legal issues that immediately impact their case. While it is usually good for clients to have a general understanding of the issues involved in their case, too much information could negatively impact a case, ultimately taking more time to work through and therefore costing clients more money if they are continually second-guessing the strategy of the case.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

The Law Office of Michael R. Young routinely requests that clients prepare a declaration or summary of the issues and / or chronology of divorce matters related to child custody, visitation, child support, property division, and separation, which we thoroughly review. It is helpful in the preparation of the case. However, we are a full-service law firm and will fully represent clients at all stages of their matter, from the pleading stage to court sessions in San Bernardino County.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

The Law Office of Michael R. Young, APC is a full-service law firm and does not merely prepare documents, but will fully represent clients at all stages of their dissolution of marriage case. Therefore, our office does not coach clients who represent themselves.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I chose to become a lawyer to be of service to the people of my community with the desire to assist them during difficult times and, hopefully, improve the quality of their lives. Personally, I am an aggressive individual who enjoys a vigorous debate; character traits which lend themselves well to this profession.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Unlike many lawyers born with a silver spoon in their mouth, I came from a blue collar background and put myself through college and law school. My work experience includes a variety of jobs in the areas of construction, manufacturing and retail sales. This experience has enriched me with a great degree of people skills and knowledge to draw from, enabling me to be sensitive to client needs and to provide exceptional legal representation.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I thoroughly enjoy the challenges associated with representing clients through divorce because it involves a wide variety and array of issues, such as child custody, divorce, visitation rights and division of property. This area of law also allows for court room argument on a daily basis which, in turn, provides me with a considerable amount of courtroom experience and close client contact.

What do you like best about your career?

As a divorce attorney in San Bernardino County, I've been able to continually build upon my existing law experience and knowledge, and have provided clients in the community with exceptional legal representation. In turn, I've been able to experience a great sense of pride and accomplishment while becoming a recognized and respected leader in the community.

What are your strengths and style?

The attorneys of our firm are aggressive litigators with extensive experience with the local courts. We present clients with realistic possible outcomes and are able to predict the best strategy for achieving a client's desired result. Aiding in our strength is exceptional staff, who are efficient and responsive to clients.
