Firm Focus and History

We concentrate in the area of consumer bankruptcy law, handling all aspects of cases filed under Chapters 7 and 13. On occasion, we handle cases filed under Chapter 11, and have represented creditors concerning Motions for Relief from the Automatic Stay and Proofs of Claim. The law firm was originally established in 1992.

Previous Employment Summary

From 1988 to 1991, I served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps Regiment as a prosecutor, legal assistance officer, and operational law officer. Stationed with the 25th Infantry Division (Light), I worked in a 13-member office to provide legal services to over 10,000 soldiers and their families. My military service helped develop strong organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills in a high volume environment.

Activities and Awards

I have, on occasion, been a guest lecturer with the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education organization.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Knowledge is power. I encourage self-education on legal issues; however, I recommend consultation with individuals trained in specific areas of the law before proceeding alone.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to review the work generated by my clients. Working together, we can achieve positive results.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

None. Coaching pro se clients is fraught with peril and raises significant legal and ethical issues.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

My father was a lawyer and I viewed the practice of law as a noble profession.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

As a husband and father of two (2) children, I appreciate how working families, at times, can face overwhelming financial difficulties. It is my job to ensure each client is treated with respect, as I would want my family to be treated.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Bankruptcy laws have existed for over 200 years. As such, consumer bankruptcy law is highly specialized and complex. However, the law can be explained in simple terms to clients to offer relief from overwhelming debt burdens. I wanted to be the type of lawyer that would help those in financial need find hope and relief.

What do you like best about your career?

The release of stress and anxiety by clients at the conclusion of each bankruptcy case is very rewarding.

Tell us about your law firm:

Clients deal directly with me.

What are your strengths and style?

My ability to explain the laws and legal process in simple terms, and to provide a calming influence on clients during stressful financial times, is a strength. My philosophy is not to dwell on how a client got into financial difficulty. Rather, I want to focus on options for getting out of financial difficulty.

Personal Interests:

My family.
