I established the firm in January 2000 in Lewisburg, West Virginia. After starting as a solo practitioner in 2000, we have grown to two attorneys, two paralegals and an office manager. The firm is expanding, and recently opened an office in Charleston, WV.
Over the years, I have built my career by zealously representing clients from all walks of life. In 2000, I had a vision of creating a law firm where people could obtain high quality, aggressive representation and not be treated as just another number, but where they would be known by name and where their individual needs would be addressed with respect and professionalism. At E. Lavoyd Morgan, Jr. & Associates, you will find a law firm that is big enough to serve all of your legal needs, but small enough to care about you.
When your family, assets, or freedom are at stake, you need a lawyer on your side who is experienced, aggressive, and passionate about your case. At E. Lavoyd Morgan, Jr. & Associates, you will find an experienced team of professionals you can count on to be there for you when you need them the most.
• 1996-2000: Worked as an associate or Barry Bruce & Associates doing general litigation and criminal defense practice.
• 1995-1996: Rodney Skeens, Attorney, Appellate practice.
Pro Bono work for Legal Aid, adjunct faculty member for Bluefield State College, College of West Virginia, (now called Mountain State University), and taught classes ranging from Criminal Justice to Judicial Process.
I think it is a good idea for clients to educate themselves because it helps them to understand the process and be able to assist their attorney throughout their representation. Generally speaking, it is never a good idea to attempt to navigate treacherous legal waters alone.
I am normally happy to review legal documents prepared by clients.
I do not undertake coaching of clients who represent themselves.
I wanted to do something with my life that made a difference. Being a trial lawyer gives me that chance.
I have had very diverse life experiences which have equipped me with the ability to relate to people from many different walks of life. I have been a limo driver, a musician, a construction worker, a corrections officer, K-9 officer, all before becoming an attorney. My interests are as diverse as my life experiences. All of these areas combined make me better able to relate to the needs of my clients.
Being a trial lawyer is really what my personality is best suited for. I enjoy the challenge, drama, and competitiveness of the courtroom. That is why my primary area of practice is trial work, i.e. criminal defense and divorce.
I like the challenge that each new case brings; no two cases are alike.
My associate Rachel Kirkham handles the same kinds of cases that I do, so when I am not available she is fully able to assist my clients, or any new clients. Tina Morgan, who is my wife and office manager, has been working with me for six years. She is very knowledgeable of my cases and is always ready to assist when needed. Kelli Sizemore and Tiffany Smith are my paralegals, and they both are very attentive to my clients' needs.
I relate well to people. I am very passionate and aggressive when it comes to my cases.
I have many varied interests, including music, motorcycles, art, reading, and traveling.
