Firm Focus and History

I have practiced law in Georgia as a solo practitioner for almost 20 years. I focus largely on consumer issues, in particular representing debtors in bankruptcy matters.

Our primary focus is on probate and bankruptcy matters.

Previous Employment Summary

I have been a solo practitioner for 20 years.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients should always make an attempt to educate themselves on legal issues before consulting an attorney. As long as clients understand they are hiring me as their attorney and not their "yes" person, clients' keen understanding of their legal issues can only serve as a benefit.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We offer all our clients a free 30-minute consultation to discuss their legal issue in full. Often, this encompasses reviewing documents presented by clients, and we are more than glad to do so as long as it pertains to their case.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

We generally do not coach clients who wish to represent themselves.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I have always enjoyed helping people, and practicing law focusing on consumer issues was a natural fit for me. My practice is almost entirely focused around helping individual clients with real life problems.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

As a mother of two sons who both turned out to be lawyers, there is no shortage of legal minds in my family. There is no one experience that I can pinpoint as a turning point in making me become a lawyer. I always had an interest in the law, and it seemed like a natural career path for me.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I receive far more joy from helping individuals than I would working in a big corporate environment. As such, I gravitated to consumer issues like bankruptcy, wills, small business incorporations, etc.

What do you like best about your career?

The appreciation of a client when I have resolved a legal issue to his or her full satisfaction.

Tell us about your law firm:

My son, Peter Bricks, has been a member of the Georgia Bar for two years and has experience in probate, real estate and personal injury matters, in addition to his bankruptcy experience. He handles Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filings. He is a graduate of Georgia State University Law School.

What are your strengths and style?

I am known for my patience and ability to work well with a variety of personality types. My clients also like that I am accessible throughout the business day.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy movies, reading books, and museums. I also enjoy traveling. My husband and I have been to over 20 countries.
