I am a solo practitioner; my firm was established in 2008.
This is a family law firm focusing on divorce, child custody and support, adoption, guardianship, and domestic violence as well as general legal issues.
I spent one year as a clerk for the Alaska Superior Court, eight years as an Assistant Public Defender in Alaska, and eleven years as a judicial officer for the Alaska District and Superior Courts.
Mediation, Pro Tem work for Alaska District Court.
I educate clients on legal issues and encourage those who cannot afford an attorney to consult with a lawyer as a coach or to review documents.
I am happy to review documents prepared by clients and Alaska law encourages attorneys to do so.
I encourage this and have served as a coach.
I was a forensic mental health counselor and spent a great deal of time in court. I noticed that the legal system was not working very well for people with family and mental health issues. I obtained a law degree with the intent to improve the system.
My education and work as a mental health counselor and a mediator make me a better lawyer.
I was appointed as a judicial officer and benefited from years of experience in my areas of practice. I also enjoy litigation.
The rewarding contact with my clients.
I am a solo practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me.
I have strong interpersonal communication skills and a collaborative law style.
I enjoy spending time with my family.
