Continuing Education

I also take a two-day seminar each year that covers a variety of legal fields and provides guidance on office management, client relations, ethics and other issues. I always exceed the required amount of continuing education hours.

Example Cases

I represent men and women in Hamilton County, Clermont County, Warren County and Butler County in the Domestic Relations Court and the Juvenile Court. I regularly help individuals through the collaborative law process so that they do not have the threat of court action pending over them. I also use the mediation process to assist individuals in post decree parenting issues as well as pre decree matters. All cases are assessed for suitability for negotiating a resolution prior to filing with the court.

Firm Focus and History

I established my own practice in July 1997 after working for a small firm for nine years.

I am here to assist and counsel those individuals going through important and challenging changes in their lives. I help those who seek solid legal advice and experience, including individuals simply wanting basic information to understand their options, or those seeking to file for divorce, dissolution or custody. I also work with clients seeking custody, parenting rights, or child support, and those who may have already begun a legal process and need additional assistance.

Previous Employment Summary

From 1989 until 1997, I worked for a small firm. I handled all aspects of litigation including family law matters, bankruptcy, personal injury, contracts claim, estate litigation, collections, etc.

Activities and Awards

ProBono Work for Legal Aid. Currently, I assist with the Divorce Clinic Hearings.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it is very important for clients to educate themselves regarding the process in which they are involved. This helps provide the client with an understanding of the benefits and limits of court action. Learning about legal topics can also help a client in formulating specific questions and concerns. However, clients should be careful regarding the source of their information so as not to be misled.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I will always work with a client to review relevant documents. The clients know their situation better than anyone and can fully detail their concerns.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am open to limited scope representation as the limits are clearly defined. I do discourage this in actions of divorce since the matters covered are very broad and change based on the actions of the other party. I do encourage clients to seek methods such as mediation or collaboration to facilitate resolution and reduce the number of issues that need to be addressed.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I decided to become a lawyer to help others facing major life changes.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My background in providing a wide range of legal services for approximately nine years before focusing solely on family law has made me a better lawyer. The experience I have gained from a large family and lengthy studies assists me in effectively communicating with clients and identifying issues. Also my training as a mediator and as a collaborative attorney is invaluable in this field.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I gravitated toward the family law because of the uniqueness of the field. The help I provide to family law clients has a direct impact on their lives. I am well-suited for the one-on-one client contact needed when assisting people during difficult times in their life.

What do you like best about your career?

The feeling of accomplishment I get when a client says, "thank you!" I enjoy the challenges presented by the case as well as the clients. I also get satisfaction out of knowing that I have assisted an individual through an emotionally charged time.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner and deal directly with all of my clients. Over the years, I have developed a network of reliable and capable attorneys to assist with any unique issues or situations that may arise.

What are your strengths and style?

I am attentive to clients and their needs. I take and/or return phone calls promptly. My work turn-around time is also prompt. An individual that retains me should not have to wait an inordinate amount of time and follow up repeatedly to get an answer or to receive paperwork.

Personal Interests:

I love spending time with my husband and two boys. We camp, hike and fish. I like to play the flute, am learning the violin and enjoy beading necklaces and reading for relaxation.
