Previous Employment Summary

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is important that clients become educated on their legal options and have a general background on legal terminology. It is also important, however, that clients understand that many areas of law overlap and a simple problem can quickly become far more complex. For example, a do-it-yourself divorce can appear simple, but can often lead to problems years later--costing clients tens of thousands of dollars more than he or she saved by going it alone.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

It depends on the matter and document. It is a case-by-case determination.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Under the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure, I can assist clients in preparing pleadings. I will only do so, however, if it makes sense for the client and would not violate the Rules of Professional Conduct.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I chose the legal profession to assist people that are undergoing great hardship in their life, as well as to protect assets of individuals and families that have taken their hard work to accumulate.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I worked in business for a number of years before attending law school. I understand the hard work and dedication that my clients put into their job each and every day. I also understand how situations can develop.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I chose family law because of the complex challenge that every case provides.

What do you like best about your career?

My ability to help clients and make a difference in their lives every day.
