Firm Focus and History

Our firm's mission is to provide honest, straightforward and quality legal representation without the sometimes intimidating and confusing legal language, known as "legalese."

I established The Law Office of Timothy L. Dave, P.A., in November 2006 after being admitted to the Florida Bar. Our office is considered a Debt Relief Agency under the Bankruptcy Code and specializes in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. Our office also handles civil/commercial litigation and personal injury cases.

Previous Employment Summary

Prior to establishing The Law Office of Timothy L. Dave, P.A., and being admitted to the Florida Bar, I interned for Jackson & Alexander, P.A., while attending law school. Prior to law school, I was Protective Investigator for the Florida Department of Children & Families in Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to working for the State of Florida, I served in the United States Navy, United States Naval Reserve, and the Florida Army National Guard, where I received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in 2001.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients must educate themselves on their issue. It helps the client understand the strengths and weaknesses in their case and gives them a more realistic expectation of the outcome.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes; document review is an essential part of my practice.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Because of the complexities involved in bankruptcy law, I do not provide coaching to pro se clients.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

With my history of service to my country and the State of Florida, it seemed like a natural progression to want to continue to serve others. I decided that becoming a lawyer would help me continue to fulfill that desire.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My military experiences, which included travel to many countries around the world, allowed me to see injustices and violations of basic human rights that we take for granted in the United States. Also, my time as a Protective Investigator for the Florida Department of Children & Families gave me insight into the legal ramifications of removing a child from a home and the subsequent consequences.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Bankruptcy helps provide a way for individuals to help minimize economic and property loss in the midst of uncertain and sometimes unforeseen circumstances.

What do you like best about your career?

The joy that comes from knowing that you are truly helping someone navigate their way through a desperate situation; that is absolutely fulfilling!

Tell us about your law firm:

I am currently a solo practitioner who personally meets with each client. I attempt to put each client at ease with a thorough evaluation of their needs with a "layman's" explanation of the legal concepts involved. The atmosphere is professional, but casual and non-threatening.

What are your strengths and style?

Caring, sensitive to the concerns of each individual client, knowledgeable and, when necessary, able and willing to advocate for my clients in court.

Personal Interests:

History, sports, personal enrichment and volunteering.
