Firm Focus and History

At the López Law Office in Indianapolis, Indiana, my goal is to give you highly professional legal representation in a supportive environment. If you are looking for a caring attorney who will be your partner throughout the legal process, I can help.

Many of my clients come to me when their world is falling apart. The majority of my law practice consists of divorce and child custody cases where my clients feel stressed out and alone. Some are going through other legal issues such as OVWI/DUI, bankruptcy, domestic violence, an injury at work, paternity actions, estate planning, guardianship, adoption or family-based immigration issues.

In the past, members of the Indiana Latino community didn't have the choice of a Spanish-speaking lawyer to represent them in their legal case. Now the Latino community has a choice.

Previous Employment Summary

I worked for Redman and Ludwig from August of 2003 until January of 2008 as a Certified Domestic Relations Mediator and Attorney at Law.

Activities and Awards

I have the pleasure of assisting several courts as a Pro Tem for paternity, traffic court in Marion County and violation of probation and court. I was chosen by the Indiana Conference for Legal Education Opportunities (ICLEO) in 2000, which is a bi-partisan program which was put together in 1997 by then-governor Frank O'Bannon to help students realize their goals of joining the legal profession.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I strongly believe in the partnership approach to solving legal problems. As your lawyer, I will work closely with you throughout the legal process. Many of my clients who have had other lawyers in the past tell me their lawyer never kept them informed of what was going on in their case and never made them feel included. At the López Law Office, that will never happen to you.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

This depends on the situation. I love for clients to assist me with their own notes and research, but I will not review legal documents.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am unwilling to do so.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I decided to pursue a career in law because I wanted to be in a profession that allowed me to be a problem solver. As a lawyer, I am able to assist individuals, many who are at a difficult stage in their lives.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I've been working since the age of fifteen years old and I put myself through both college and law school. I overcame a language barrier when I came to the United States since Spanish was my first language.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I choose to be a family law lawyer because that is an area of law where I have direct interaction with the client. I am able to assist individuals in crisis at a hands-on level. It is extremely rewarding.

What do you like best about your career?

I like the one-to-one contact with individuals in need and the ability to provide some relief during very stressful times. I like being of service to others.

Tell us about your law firm:

My paralegal Laura has 14 years experience.

What are your strengths and style?

I believe my strength as an attorney is my honesty. I give my clients a direct analysis of how I see their case. I want my clients to understand where they are in the legal process and what a realistic turnout for their specific situation is. It might not be what the client wants to hear, but it's honest and straight-forward.

Stylistically, I am a down-to-earth person. My clients are for the most part sharing very intimate information. I believe an attorney who is privy to this sensitive information should be considerate and compassionate.

Personal Interests:

In about ten years, I'd like to run for an elected position as a Judge and have a family.
