I attend various continuing legal education seminars throughout the reporting period and tend to exceed the required number of continuing education hours.
I wrote an article for the Capital University Law Review, entitled: The Secularization of Equity: Ancient Religious Origins, Feudal Christian Influences, and Medieval Authoritarian Impacts on the Evolution of Legal Equitable Remedies, 26 Cap. Univ. L.R. 483 (1997). The article has been cited by many other scholars, as well as by several courts in legal opinions.
In a business law and unfair competition case, petitioned the court for a restraining order under a preliminary injunction to stop a competing business from holding itself out as the client's business as well as stop the defendant business from interfering with business contracts and relations.
Litigated and negotiated a divorce case where the wife received her equitable share of marriage assets, even though husband filed multiple motions and used delaying tactics to try to prevent the equal and equitable division of assets.

The attorneys, lawyers, and staff at our firm serve individual, family, and business clients in a variety of ways. We provide legal services for a broad range of legal matters. Our attorneys, lawyers, and legal staff believe that good legal representation should be available to anyone who finds themselves involved in a contested matter within the legal system. Good attorneys should be proactive to help their clients stay out of a lawsuit or court of law; however a good lawyer also must be an effective trial advocate in the event that litigation does arise.
The attorneys, lawyers, and staff at our offices serve clients with the utmost courtesy and respect. We listen to client concerns and craft solutions that are suited to the particular circumstances of each and every case. We concentrate in business law, divorce and family law, criminal and drunk driving, as well as personal injury.
The firm was established in 1999, initially focused on criminal law, drunk driving law, and divorce and family law; the firm grew to include business law and litigation, as well as other areas of practice such as tax and personal injury.
• United States Air Force from 1988 to 1992 as an Air Traffic Controller
• Full-time student from 1992 to 1994 at College of William and Mary
• 1995 paid intern with a non-profit organization in Washington D.C. that oversaw economic assistance plans and packages in the former U.S.S.R.
• Full time student Law School 1995 to 1998
• Second and third-year law school paid law clerk with the Office of Franklin County Public Defender felony division
• Third year law school; two semesters of legal clinic working on dozens of real cases before graduating
• Opened my own law office the year I passed the bar
In addition to my own law practice, I am a professor of Torts, Contract Law, and Foundations of Law at Capital University Law School in the paralegal program.
Clients should educate themselves as much as possible regarding the legal issues of their case. But they should not equate such self-education with full understanding of the legal process itself, leading to conflicts with their attorney.
We review client documents quite regularly to see if we can help. If we cannot help, then we let the clients know during or right after the review.
As this area can cause ethical problems with the local and state bar association here in Ohio, I stay away from "coaching" any pro se client. We understand that many persons do not have the money to hire lawyers, and while we do what we can, we typically direct such people to the law library downtown.
I see the legal profession as a service profession. I wanted to do my part to serve the community and help people solve their problems, especially when most problems are not as complicated as they may appear.
While in the military, I served time overseas, where I observed and came to appreciate that people and cultures may be different in many ways, but generally all people want some sort of order in their everyday existence. I also attended night classes at a community college in Hampton, Virginia, where I came to appreciate the diverse opinions of adults from different backgrounds and areas of employment.
Complex problems keep my days interesting.
I like serving the legal needs of our clients. As well, I am my own boss and only answer to my clients (and judges of course).
I have a great secretary who can respond to emergency situations. We have two good paralegals that care about the clients and their needs, and are willing to learn new stuff.
I practice through-out Ohio. I think I am down-to-earth, and judges and juries appreciate such civility. As well, I tend to respect the decorum of each judge's courtroom, as well as the people who work for that courtroom (secretaries, bailiffs, and such) and the people of the community where the courtroom sits (juries). However, there are times that I have had to stand up to a judge, bailiff, or local citizen to protect the interests of my client. As one client describes it, I am at times an angel and when necessary a devil.
I like the outdoors. I like gardening, reading, and music; skiing and snowboarding in winter; bicycling, windsurfing, rock climbing, hiking, camping, in summer. And I love to spend time doing these things with my kids.
Vicki.

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
