I established my own practice in March of 2007. I focus on Criminal Law and Family Law. Criminal matters range from a simple traffic violation to trying a major felony. I can handle both for you.
Prior to opening my law firm, I worked as Deputy Prosecutor for the Marion County Prosecutor's Office and before that, worked for the Indiana Attorney General's Office.
I work as an Administrative Law Judge for the Family and Social Services Administration for the State of Indiana.
It is important to me that all my clients understand the legal issues involved. Whether my clients obtain all their legal knowledge through me, or find additional sources to aid them in their legal understanding, I want my clients to fully understand what they are going through. I have found that it is very important to keep my clients involved in the process and aware of what is happening.
As a criminal attorney, rarely is there a need for my clients to prepare anything. I will review anything if need be.
I typically find that it is not in my clients' best interest to coach them if they want to represent themselves. However, if they are set on it, I will sit down with them and discuss the pros and cons of pursuing such a matter.
I initially attended law school with an eye on going to the Federal State Department or FBI. However, as I became involved with the Moot Court competition, class studies, and work at the Attorney General's Office, I realized that I really enjoyed being a part of the law. I made the decision to concentrate my studies on being a lawyer - specifically a trial lawyer - and am overwhelmingly pleased with my decision.
75% of being a great trial attorney is preparation. This is true whether you are negotiating an agreement or in front of a jury. The extra preparation I do for a case allows me to be in the perfect position to assist my clients in all ways.
I love the strategy of figuring out how to best serve my clients on a new case, the negotiations with the prosecutor, and the courtroom battle.
I enjoy the intellectual challenge that each unique case presents and the ability to assist my clients who might be going through a difficult time in their lives.
I am a solo practitioner, so all my clients work with me directly. I also have an assistant who is able to assist all my clients if I am in court or otherwise unavailable.
My style varies with the type of case and what my client wants to do. Sometimes a plea agreement is in my clients' best interest. At that point, I begin the negotiation process to secure the best possible agreement. When trial is appropriate, I work towards the final goal of acquittal.
I enjoy traveling, hiking, jogging and other outdoor activities.
