I attend continuing education seminars on topics related to the areas in which I practice.
Typical estate planning representation would begin with a brief consultation over the phone with the prospective client to determine whether I can be of assistance to him or her. If the prospective client wishes to proceed, I would send or email forms to be completed by the client. These forms would include asset and liability worksheets and worksheets to obtain information about the client. After the client completes the worksheets, I would meet with the client to review the worksheets, and find out what the client desires concerning the disposition of his or her estate. I also would explain advance (health care) directives and if the client desires one, I would obtain the information needed to prepare the document. I also would explain the purpose of general financial powers of attorney and discuss whether he or she desired such a document. During this meeting, I would attempt to answer any questions raised. Next, I would prepare the documents desired by the client, and send the documents to the client for review. After the client reviews the documents and any revisions are made, an appointment is made to execute the documents.

John W. Chambers, Sr. and I started the firm of Chambers & Chambers in 1979. Timothy D. Chambers joined the firm in 1980 and the firm became known as Chambers, Chambers & Chambers. John W. Chambers, Sr. passed away in 2001, but his sons have continued the practice. The firm has been a family business since its inception.
The focus of the firm is general civil practice. We emphasize:
• Estate planning, including preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, probate administration.
• Formation of corporations and limited liability companies;
• Preparation and review of business agreements, including leases, contracts for the purchase and sale of realty, contracts for the purchase and sale of business assets.
I began working with my father in this firm after graduating from law school, so my relevant legal employment is with my current law firm.

I encourage clients to educate themselves on legal issues. One of my goals in serving clients is to inform and educate them regarding their particular legal issue. I want the client to understand the provisions of his or her will or trust. I believe that part of my service is to educate the client, so I encourage questions.
Generally, I am not willing to review documents prepared by clients. In connection with estate planning, I do ask clients to prepare informational worksheets, which I review with them. Reviewing a document without actually planning the estate often would be of little value to the client, and for that reason, I generally do not review documents prepared by a prospective client.
Planning an estate is more complicated than one might imagine. I generally would be unwilling to coach a client who wishes to do his or her own estate planning, but for some matters, I might be willing to consult if appropriate.
My father was a lawyer and I was exposed to the law from a young age. The practice of law was once considered an honorable profession. The lawyer was viewed as a person who helped others. I believe that these ideals influenced my decision to become a lawyer. I enjoy working with people and helping them with their legal matters.
I was given the opportunity early in my legal career to practice in a number of areas of law. These areas included antitrust law, business, real estate, personal injury, domestic relations, estate planning, and commercial law. While I did transactional legal work, I also was a trial attorney and handled a number of cases in both state and federal courts. I believe that my exposure to a variety of legal practice areas helps me in my estate planning practice, as it gives me a broader perspective. I also believe that I try to look for practical solutions to legal matters in part because of my broad range of experience.
Estate planning is one of my primary areas of practice. I also provide legal services for small and medium businesses. Such services include formation of corporations and limited liability companies, preparation of contracts, including shareholders' agreements, contracts for the purchase and sale of businesses, employment contracts, contracts for the purchase and sale of real property, and lease agreements. I chose estate planning as a primary area of practice because I enjoy working with people and helping them. Estate planning gives me an opportunity to get to know a client on a more personal level, and allows me to help the client in a very important matter. I find putting together the pieces of an estate plan interesting and enjoyable.
The thing I like best about my legal career is helping people with their legal needs.
I work with my brother, who is a lawyer, and my sister, who is our legal assistant. In connection with my estate planning practice, my clients work directly with me in connection with meetings and preparation of the documents. My sister works with my clients in scheduling appointments, and after execution of the documents, providing the client with the original documents, as well as copies of the documents.
My strength is my desire to provide quality work at fair prices. My style is to provide personal and caring service to each client, and treat each client as if he or she were a friend or member of the family.
Some of my personal interests include reading, playing guitar, occasionally riding a motorcycle, watching movies, and listening to jazz. I have two dogs, an Australian Terrier and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. My faith is an important part of my life.

Often I am able provide a fixed-price service or fee. It depends on the particular situation. Please call for fee schedule.
$200 per hour.
This depends on a case-by-case basis. Often I might have a brief telephone consultation with a prospective client to determine whether I can be of service. If the prospective client and I would like to work together, then I will meet with the client. I do not offer a free initial consultation if a person wants specific legal advice concerning a legal matter or issue. However, if the client wants to have a brief consultation to discuss what services I provide, I might provide a free brief consultation of less than thirty minutes. If the client retains my services to prepare her or his estate planning documents, I will include the initial consultation in the fixed fee if a fixed fee arrangement is reached.
For estate planning services, I generally do not ask for a retainer.
