I attend continuing legal education seminars, specifically in estate planning and tax law. I also have made efforts to be knowledgeable in Registered Domestic Partners Law.
I wrote a treatise on homeowners' rights relative to their insurance coverage. Santa Clara Law Review. Volume 29:2, 1989.
A husband and wife owned a house and named beneficiaries on their cash accounts. I advised them that their house is still subject to probate, even though cash assets are not. They created a living trust to protect the house from probate court and further expenses.

We opened our doors in 1992, and changed our practice in 1995 to focus exclusively on estate planning, trusts, and probate.
Our firm strives to provide the highest quality legal services with care and sensitivity. Our goal is to provide information that is easy to understand and documents that are simple, but effective. We offer a friendly, low-pressure environment to discuss some of life's most important issues.
I worked for a large firm in downtown San Jose. I then worked for a couple of small firms in Sacramento, and had a short stint with the federal government (Small Business Administration). From there, I entered solo practice.
Court-Appointed Attorney (Probate) Sacramento County and Santa Clara Law Alumni Association Award (1990).
I think that an educated client is the best client to have. It gives our office a head start in further discussions of the nuances and issues that may not have been considered. In other words, we can delve deeper into the real issues that need to be addressed.
I can review documents prepared by clients in the same way that I would review documents prepared by another attorney.
I believe, as do most attorneys, that you can only coach clients so far without feeling that you should represent them directly. This is a liability issue, but it is also a question of ethics. You would not give a sword to a person unless you were very confident that he or she knew how to use it. Most attorneys would rather hold the sword for their clients, not just coach on proper use.
I always wanted to be involved in a profession that could help people.
I have a very strong commitment to my own family and friends. I strive to assist clients in accomplishing their family's goals.
Estate planning is an area where strategies can be utilized to protect families from taxes, court, and additional expense.
Helping people. Every family has its own unique dynamic, good or bad. I enjoy helping clients accomplish their goals.
I am a solo practitioner. I have a great staff of three. My staff is friendly, courteous, and highly protective of our clients' information. We maintain an informal, fun, and upbeat work environment.
I am an optimist as a person, and a realist as a practitioner. I try to give clients all the different possibilities so they are fully apprised before making important decisions.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters. I play golf and basketball. I enjoy reading a good book and traveling to interesting, informative destinations.
