Family Law
My goal is to help all of those facing challenging legal changes in their lives, whether they are contemplating divorce and need someone to help explore and explain their options, or are ready to begin the process of divorce and understand the needs and benefits of solid legal advice and experience. In addition, I work with those who have begun the process of their divorce, but are in need of extra assistance.

I fulfill my continuing education hours through various programs focusing on family law issues such as custody, support and property division.
The following example cases are presented in the words of my former clients:
Custody Issues:
"I was facing the prospect of losing my children to my ex-wife, who was preparing to move them overseas and out of my life. With Sue's help I was not only able to keep them in the country with me, but was always there when another unforeseen issue arose.
After our initial separation, my ex-wife attempted to take my three children out of the country and out of my life forever. The few lawyers I spoke to initially suggested tactics that would not only hurt my ex-wife, but hurt my children in the crossfire. Sue was different, and took a very practical and realistic approach to my case. When my ex-wife's lawyer accused me of some of the worst things imaginable, I came out on top because we didn't use those tactics.
I won custody of my kids because of Sue and am forever grateful." - Erik
Divorce:
"I never thought I would be in a position to need a family attorney for an impending divorce. After unsuccessfully being able to resolve our differences through a mediator, a friend recommended Sue Moravec to me. She explained that Sue worked with her and treated her with respect, integrity and honor through her difficult divorce challenges. Sue went far above that for me. She explained every step of the way (in English I could understand) and there was no fluff. Sue was compassionate, but also kept me focused on my goal." - Rosemarie
Non-Traditional Family Adoption:
"We explored adoption and surrogacy in our efforts to build our family. Sue guided us and helped us throughout the journey and was always available, and supportive. She provided an ear or advice when we needed help or direction. She excelled as both our advocate and our counsel. Relying on her legal expertise and advice, we now have 3 beautiful children. We will most definitely rely on her once again if we decide to add to our family in the future. We enthusiastically recommend Sue to anyone in need of family law services." - Ben and Michael

I have developed my family law practice to support my clients in making informed choices based on a solid understanding of their full range of legal options. I offer practical and clear advice on the issues that my clients face. My experience in both litigation and mediation allows me to provide a complete range of options for my clients in all areas of family law including child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property settlements and new areas of law that emphasize reproductive rights.
Upon obtaining my license from the State Bar in 2001, I opened my practice focusing on family law.
During law school and prior to opening my firm, I worked for the Law Office of Willard Halm, focusing on assisted reproductive law.
Given the wealth of information available via the internet, friends, family, and TV, it's easy to be misled about what information applies to a specific case. I firmly believe that clients should be educated, but I also want to ensure that the information they receive is accurate as it applies to their situation.
Since the client knows their situation better than anyone, I am more than willing to review documents which are relevant to the services provided and relevant to the issues present in a client's case.
I am open to limited scope arrangements where our respective responsibilities are clearly defined.
I decided to become a lawyer because I wanted to help people facing major life changes get through the process as quickly and painlessly as possible.
I base my work in divorce matters upon an unwavering commitment to clear communications, beginning with the first conversation to discuss my prospective client's needs and preferences. Recognizing that a good fit to meet one's needs is essential, I will listen to a client's needs and expectations, answer questions candidly, and establish the solid basis for trust that is critical to establishing an effective client/attorney relationship in such an important matter.
Divorce does not have to be destructive. I advise my clients to move through the process with dignity. My practical grasp helps people effectively navigate the emotionally charged decisions they face.
I gravitated toward this area of law because my compassion and desire to help others is well-suited to assisting people during difficult times in their lives.
I get the most satisfaction from knowing that I've been able to guide clients through an emotionally charged situation while helping stay focused on what matters most.
I am a solo practitioner, so my clients deal directly with me.
I am very practical with a compassionate, yet realistic approach.
I enjoy gourmet cooking and hiking with my two Whippets. I love spending time with my husband and 13-year old daughter - we enjoy art, music, and exploring museums together.
