I started my present firm in 1991 and have practiced law at the same location in Sandy Springs (I-285 at Roswell Road) for that entire time. My location allows easy access from all parts of Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett Counties.
I am a former Chapter 7 Trustee, and for several years, I served as local partner of a national law firm which specialized in consumer law with an emphasis on bankruptcy practice. My prior experience and success in these endeavors motivated me to start my own bankruptcy law practice, in which I have been engaged for approximately the last 15 years. I truly enjoy helping people resolve their financial problems, and get real satisfaction by helping people in this way. As a real estate closing attorney, in addition to my bankruptcy practice, I also have a strong familiarity with financial issues as they relate to real property, mortgage foreclosure law, judgment, garnishment and lien law.
Additionally, my office has an attorney who specialized in the resolution of delinquent income tax issues, many of which can be resolved in whole or in part by use of the bankruptcy process.
I served as Regional Partner of the Nature Conservancy after graduation from Emory University Law School. I was then appointed Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee in the Southern District of Georgia. Later, I was appointed a Regional Partner of Hyatt Legal Services, where I opened and managed eight storefront law offices throughout metro Atlanta region. I also taught bankruptcy law to all of the attorneys who worked in my offices. In 1991, I opened my own office and have enjoyed the private practice of law, with emphasis on bankruptcy and transactional law ever since.

I typically spend substantial time explaining the fundamentals of bankruptcy law to my clients, without charge for consultation. In the practice of bankruptcy law, an educated consumer is a must, because of ongoing responsibilities of the client and the attorney! I believe my strongest character trait is my ability to communicate with the client in a patient, clear and easy-to-understand manner.
I provide my clients with very clear and specific financial questionnaires to obtain the information I will need to properly represent them. In addition, I provide written material to familiarize them with each and every step of the process, including sample questions that they will be asked by their trustee at hearing. Having served as a trustee, I am uniquely qualified in understanding the client from the Trustee's perspective.
I never recommend that a client represent himself or herself in filing bankruptcy, because the process is too complicated and the consequences of making mistakes are too serious.
I decided to become a lawyer while in college at Tulane University due to strong interest in environmental law. I decided to focus on consumer law issues when I worked for several years as the Regional Partner for the Hyatt Neighborhood Legal Clinics and discovered how much I enjoyed meeting with clients and helping them to work through legal, and particularly financial, problems.
Primarily, my experience in opening and managing "store-front" law offices, training other lawyers, and working with hundreds of "walk in" clients who needed both an understanding of their legal problems and effective representation in solving these problems.
Having served as a bankruptcy trustee, and also having trained other lawyers extensively in consumer bankruptcy law, I feel that I have a special understanding of both the practical and the emotional aspects of this type of law practice.
Helping people re-gain control over their lives in a practical and productive way.
I am a solo practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me. I have a wonderful paralegal who is attentive to all of my clients' immediate needs. My secretary has a wealth of knowledge and is sensitive to the needs of my clients.
I am friendly, patient, knowledgeable, accessible and reasonable.
I like to spend time with my wife and children and my dogs. I enjoy music, my friends and my career as a consumer bankruptcy lawyer.

Chapter 13 cases have a front end charge, usually of $1,000 to $1,500 with additional fees associated with a three or five year payment plan in a Chapter 13 case built into the plan payout.
My office does not charge hourly rates, except in cases requiring protracted litigation.
