Firm Focus and History

We consider ourselves a "boutique law firm" dedicated to assisting consumers experiencing financial difficulty and defending against wrongful debt collection actions. Debt relief is available through Chapter 7 (liquidation or straight bankruptcy) or Chapter 13 (reorganization) bankruptcy. Through bankruptcy, a fresh financial start can be achieved.

Your home may be saved from foreclosure. Wage earners may be eligible to stop a foreclosure using the "Chapter 13 plan." A zero percent interest payment plan can be imposed to pay the arrears on your home.

For those who qualify, overwhelming unsecured debt can be discharged in a Chapter 7. Other individuals can significantly reduce their debt in a Chapter 13.

We take pride in the fact that we represent defendants who have been sued wrongfully by debt collectors. We prosecute debt collectors who violate the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. We also prosecute information providers who give inaccurate information to credit reporting agencies under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Established in 1999 in Tallahassee Florida, we relocated to Panama City and re-established our business in 2005.

Previous Employment Summary

Prior to opening my private consumer law practice, I was employed as an attorney by Legal Services of North Florida. I have extensive experience in consumer protection with an emphasis on finance and debt collection defense. I have successfully sued debt collectors, defended collection actions and foreclosures.

A retired Naval Officer, I served on active duty for over 20 years as a pilot and Navy SEAL. My prior career provided vast experience in sensitive and challenging positions that uniquely qualified me to enter the legal field. I have excelled as an operational planner, so planning your defense will be an emphasis of mine. I am not easily intimidated and will stand up for your rights!

Activities and Awards

The Florida Bar President's Pro-Bono Service Award for 2007.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Education is fine, but in today's complex legal world, hiring a competent attorney is often necessary to preserve your rights.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

None.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

None.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

The challenge of law school drew me to this profession; assisting consumers keeps me here.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

First, a Naval career where I succeeded in demanding operational and leadership positions have prepared me as an advocate for others. My university experience developed my ability to effectively express my client's position. Having graduated from the Air Force Command and Staff College and having attended the Air Campaign Course prepared me not only as an advocate, but as an operational planner. My experience as a SEAL and a pilot has given me the confidence to face any challenge.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I have ventured into many areas of law and none are as enjoyable as being a consumer advocate. As a consumer advocate, I have the opportunity to strengthen my community through providing representation to those who are unjustly sued and assisting individuals who require debt relief. It is enjoyable work!

What do you like best about your career?

The best part of my career is trial advocacy and dispute resolution, followed by helping with debt relief.

Tell us about your law firm:

My legal assistant, Vera, is personable and extremely organized. Well-versed, she manages all bankruptcy cases and has a wonderful ability to simplify seemingly complex issues.

What are your strengths and style?

I take the time to prepare a case for trial. I research issues and go to court ready to advocate my client's position. I am direct without being offensive. Keeping in mind that my clients are individuals, my goal is relieving their legal problems while helping them maintain dignity.

Personal Interests:

First, I am interested in my wife and our home. Second, I enjoy reading, bicycling, scuba diving and walking my dogs. And finally, I enjoy traveling with my wife, the lovely Ms. Vera.
