What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

An educated client is able to save fees on attorney time and is more able to stay focused on the overall goal of successful completion of the matter at hand.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am happy to work as a consultant to self-represented litigants, in the right circumstances.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am happy to work as a consultant to self-represented litigants, in the right circumstances.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I have the desire to help people complete difficult projects or to emerge satisfied after overcoming challenges in their lives. My goal is to guide people past rough spots so that they can go on with their lives without the need for an attorney.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have a natural empathy for people enduring difficult times and feel great satisfaction when they move past the uncertainties involved in family law matters.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I was initially hesitant to focus on family law cases. In an early case, I recognized that my client was left paying spousal support during a period when her husband would not work. This was clearly not fair, and I felt that I could help her change that arrangement, and did so. Then, I encountered a father who wanted to see his children more, but because his wife was angry that he'd filed divorce, she was interfering with his access to his children. Again, this was not fair, so I dove in to change that situation.

After these two cases, I realized that I was able to help people in some of the most important areas of their lives, and that that is extremely rewarding. Also, the practice is fast-paced and never dull!

What do you like best about your career?

After so many years of practicing family law, I am able to envision various options to resolve the problems and help my clients. This helps my clients feel in control, which is most important to a good outcome.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have a wonderful associate, Ashley Ein, who is able to work directly with clients on preparing disclosures, drafting declarations, and other projects. These services help lower the client's fees, while still receiving top flight service.

What are your strengths and style?

My goal is to help people move past their family law matters with the least trauma to their emotions and finances.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy horseback riding, reading mysteries and legal thrillers, hiking and an occasional yoga class.
