Family Law
I welcome new clients with contested and uncontested matters. I also particularly enjoy working with clients who have an undisputed family matter and retain me because they don't know all the legal issues or the court procedures. I like to work with clients who want to make sure their case is handled efficiently and correctly and that nothing is overlooked.

I established K. Page Kistler, P.C. in September of 2004 when I returned to my home state of Virginia after having gone to law school in Boston. I practiced law in Boston from 1998 until July of 2004, when I relocated back to Virginia.
We focus on providing effective, efficient and skilled representation in matters of divorce and family law.
While I was in Boston, I was an associate at the prestigious family law firm, Lee, Levine & Bowser, LLP. Before I started practicing law, I was the Ballot and Voting Equipment Specialist for the Commonwealth of Virginia for six years at the State Board of Elections in Richmond. I knew punch card ballots and hanging chads before they became famous!
I have been a founding member of the professional movement to introduce and integrate collaborative divorce into divorce practice in Tidewater, Virginia.
The more clients can learn, the more they can help themselves and influence the outcome of their cases. In addition to the legal counsel I provide my clients, I encourage clients and others involved in the legal system to learn as much as they can.
I regularly review documents prepared by clients, particularly if they have started to put the terms of a settlement agreement they reached with their spouse into writing. I will also provide a review of documents at an initial consultation, with no obligation that the prospective client retain me for further services.
If people would like to set up consultations with me to review their case and the legal issues and procedures involved, I will be happy to provide that service.
The law touches every aspect of our lives. Being a lawyer enables me to use my experience, knowledge and legal skill to make a positive difference in a person's life.
I read a lot. I challenge; I question; I look at a position from different sides, and I look for how different interests can be satisfied. I am curious about what is going on in the world and what people are doing. I work hard to present my clients with legal options and opinions that are based in reality and relevant to their life. I keep my clients informed so they have realistic expectations about the outcome of their case.
Divorce and family law are constantly changing areas of the law that encompass a variety of issues that affect our everyday lives. A family law practice is interesting and challenging. I enjoy the variety of people I meet, the personal contact with my clients and learning something new about individuals, occupations, our community and life every day.
I like that my law practice is also my business. I have the freedom and ability to create the environment, the culture, and provide mutually beneficial service to clients that we can both appreciate.
I am a solo practitioner and all of my clients deal directly with me, usually from their first contact to the firm until the case is over. My assistant, Letty, is available to speak and work with clients when I am in court or with other clients. She is instrumental in the quick completion time that we offer to uncontested divorce clients.
I like working directly with my clients, giving them legal knowledge and options so that they can be the decision makers in their own cases. I listen to my clients' needs and wants and work to reach their goals as effectively and efficiently as I can.
I enjoy traveling, reading and participating in walking tours.
