Bankruptcy
I will take any clients or cases, no matter how unusual. I handle consumer and non-consumer bankruptcies, defense against adversary claims, and prosecution of adversary/non-dischargeability claims. I handle Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 bankruptcies. I represent debtors and creditors. I have no preference for types of cases, being equally happy to handle routine matters or complex issues.

California State Bar and Los Angeles County Bar Association.
I review "Advance Tapes" by Professor Steven Finz, who publishes monthly "tort and personal injury law" and "civil procedure and evidence" hour-long recordings discussing current decisions in the California courts of appeal and Supreme Court. I attend seminars annually, and I constantly review guides in my practice areas to keep up-to-date with changes in the law.
I recently handled a Chapter 13 bankruptcy case in which a second trust deed mortgage was "stripped," therefore converted to unsecured debt on the debtor's family home. Then the debtor's plan was confirmed. When the plan is completed, his debts totaling over $100,000 will be discharged and he will own his home free and clear of his second trust deed.
In another bankruptcy matter, a debtor who owned a home in foreclosure was trying to represent himself. His case was dismissed, and the foreclosure sale was to occur the next day. He contacted me for help and within 16 hours, I filed a new bankruptcy, prevented the foreclosure sale and helped him get a Chapter 13 plan confirmed. We saved his home and he is back on track to a fresh start.

I handle all facets of bankruptcy law. I am also well-versed in and willing to handle general civil litigation, torts, family law, criminal defense, civil rights litigation, and appellate practice. I am a general practitioner with more than 17 years of experience in all of these fields.
My firm was established in 1991, and I have been a sole practitioner since I began practicing law. I have varied and broad experience, having represented hundreds of clients over the years. Over the years I have handled pretty much every aspect of bankruptcy litigation and many types of civil litigation, torts, family law, criminal defense, civil rights litigation, as well as handling appeals in state and federal courts.
My firm was established in 1991. I have been a sole practitioner since I began practicing law.
I have served as a Judge Pro Tem in Los Angeles County Superior Court. I used to provide pro bono services to Pomona Valley Legal Services (legal aid in the area of family law). However, due to loss of funding, that service shut down several years ago.
I encourage it. Some attorneys I know sometimes criticize me for trying to over-educate my clients. I think it prevents misunderstandings and helps clients to appreciate what attorneys do.
I am almost always willing to do so, although I will generally charge for document review.
I will do so if clients appear to have the ability to handle something on their own. It depends on the clients and the complexity. There is an old adage, "He who tries to represent himself has a fool for an attorney." I don't always agree with that, but there are times when it is accurate.
I enjoy legal scholarship and like helping people.
I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed by a tough adversary. I think consumers facing foreclosure feel overwhelmed in this way, and it's easy for them to get discouraged and just give up. I understand and sympathize.
The need is there, especially with the recent state of the economy.

I am a solo practitioner, so my clients deal directly with me. My secretary Cathy speaks Mandarin, and other office staff speak Cantonese. Spanish and Korean language translation can be arranged by appointment. However, I am the person who will be handling your case. I don't pass the buck.
I give personal attention to each case.
I enjoy learning and studying. I try to keep up with current affairs, especially in the legal related areas and in politics. I like to hike and rock climb. I also web-surf a bit.

I will sometimes charge a flat fee, but I like to discuss that with clients in person rather than advertise a rate. I will often be able to match or beat any other rate for the same service by an attorney with a similar level of experience in any given field.
Generally, I charge $325 per hour.
I offer consultation for bankruptcy for generally no more than one hour.
I will generally meet or beat the market rate for attorneys handling Chapter 7 and 13 cases.
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
