Previous Employment Summary

Before I became a lawyer I was a law clerk.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it's fantastic, if not necessary for clients to educate themselves on legal issues. My firm's philosophy is that we should provide clients with the information they need to make informed decisions. An educated client is far easier to deal with than an uneducated one.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

The issue of reviewing documents prepared by clients generally does not come up in a personal injury practice.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Florida bar rules make coaching clients to represent themselves a very difficult matter. As attorneys, we can be held responsible for advice we give that goes astray or is in the wrong hands.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

Having grown up in a low-income home with a single-mother, I witnessed first-hand how society, government and corporations can run roughshod over the vulnerable. I wanted to use my advocacy and persuasion skills to assist the "little guy."

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I've been injured in two significant car accidents, which has helped me understand what my clients have to go through. That experience and other life experiences give me a special and unique perspective in handling my personal injury cases.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Initially, I chose personal injury because I had been exposed to it during my law school summers when I interned for a personal injury law firm. It was a large, rather impersonal firm where it seemed clients often got lost in the shuffle. I knew I could do better on my own by establishing a small firm with my wife and offering a level of personal service that the large firms could not.

What do you like best about your career?

The best thing about my career is that I get to interact with people from all walks of life. It's a great feeling to help people through difficult times and hopefully make a difference in their lives.

Tell us about your law firm:

I work with my wonderful wife, Lisa, who is also an attorney. We handle all cases together, so the clients get he benefits of two legal minds for the price of one.

What are your strengths and style?

I like to think of myself as a true advocate for my clients. People who have been injured or victimized need to feel that they are being heard and that their needs will be addressed by their attorney. There is no cold corporate atmosphere in my office. No one feels like just a file on the shelf. We take a personal interest in each one of our clients and represent them accordingly.

Personal Interests:

I love music, both playing guitar and listening to my sizeable CD collection. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my wife and two little boys. Whether it's coaching my kids' Little League games, bringing the family to a golf course, cheering on the sidelines during soccer season, or traveling for chess tournaments (our older son competes), my personal interests revolve around my family.

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
