What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

In order for clients to be productive members of the team it is essential that they be educated on the law applicable to their case.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

In many instances I may request that a client draft certain documents on their own in the interests of accuracy and/or cost savings.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am willing to coach clients only in a limited number of circumstances.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

The practice of law offered me the opportunity to utilize all of my motivational skills in my every day profession. As an attorney I am able to actually have an impact upon and make a difference in people's lives. In addition, I am able to utilize the legal system to protect people's rights. Being a lawyer has afforded me the opportunity to truly be myself in my work.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Common sense is my most important tool. I learn from each of my experiences and improve the services I provide thereafter.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Family law provides the best area for me to have an actual and significant impact upon people's lives on a regular basis.

What do you like best about your career?

As an attorney I have the opportunity to protect people as well as make their lives better.

Tell us about your law firm:

There are three very competent attorneys in our firm who are assisted by an attentive legal assistant. We operate as a team on all of our cases thereby insuring the most effective representation for our clients. We are very attentive to our every client's needs. We attend to and respond to our clients inquiries in a timely manner.

What are your strengths and style?

When practical, my first step in conflict resolution is to pursue a timely and cost-effective negotiated settlement. If that is not feasible or otherwise is unsuccessful, then I will not hesitate to initiate the appropriate litigation against all involved parties. My policy is to aggressively pursue the proceeding towards a favorable resolution for my client. I also will aggressively defend a client if sued and pursue all available and appropriate defenses.

Personal Interests:

First and foremost to me is my family. I participate in year-round basketball and softball leagues. I am a college football, basketball, pro baseball and hockey fan. I enjoy frequent travel, driving my classic Chevy and boat, and live theatre. Current events and the news are of great interest to me as well.
