Gates' Law, PLLC is intent on maintaining the greatest traditions of the practice of law. We bring practical, hands-on experience to meet the diversity of legal issues confronting our clients. We are committed to providing exceptional legal services to our clients, along with an unparalleled dedication to our profession and community.
I am a licensed Professional Engineer in Washington, Alaska, and Kansas. Prior to going to law school, I practiced nearly twenty years as an engineer in research and development, environmental engineering, and management. I am the former Chairperson of the Washington State Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
I was elected to two terms on the City of Richland City Council and served as Mayor. I was also elected to two terms as Director, Association of Washington Cities.
I provide pro bono service for the King County Bar Association's Volunteer Legal Services, Neighborhood Legal Clinic, and Newcomers Project.
I was selected as the KCBA's 2004 Volunteer Legal Services Attorney of the Year.
We live in an information world with the Internet and other available resources to draw upon; thus, well-educated clients are better able to assist me with their case, which results in time and money savings to the client.
I am willing to review documents; however, I cannot give legal advice due to the complexity of criminal charges.
I am happy to provide legal advice to individuals charged with a minor traffic matter. However, criminal law has become increasingly tedious and punitive. I recommend that an individual seek legal representation in criminal matters, since I can achieve a better outcome than what the client would have otherwise.
Being an attorney allows me to help people successfully handle their legal issues and have a positive impact on the lives of those I represent.
I bring to the practice of law a widely varied work and life experience. I practiced over 20 years in the environmental field. At the same time, I gained experience working with governmental, civic and social service organizations. I was elected to the City Council and served as Mayor.
I love the challenges of the law and over time my practice began to focus on criminal matters.
I enjoy meeting with different individuals with legal issues. There is no better feeling than to establish the trust and confidence of clients, colleagues, and the courts in providing the best solution for a client's circumstances.
I am a sole practitioner and communicate directly with my clients. I respond in a timely manner to all telephone calls and emails. Where necessary, I use support attorneys to assist me on legal matters.
I am a good communicator, quick thinker, personable, and ethical.
I enjoy cooking, reading, and the outdoors.
