Many clients who come to my office are clients who had different attorneys for their dissolutions and now need assistance to change or enforce provisions of their agreements. My approach is to first review the Agreement and then go through all of the areas which need improvement for that specific client. We strive to make the necessary corrections the first time so that clients do not need to re-hire attorneys. We also attempt to resolve the issues with the opposing party before filing with the Court to avoid unnecessary expense to the client. However, if the opposing party does not want to participate, this firm has represented clients in over a hundred different hearings, including multi-day trials, and has been successful.

Heather A. Zardus, P.A.'s focus is in the areas of Family Law, Estate Planning and Commercial Litigation. Most often we are able to assist our clients with an issue in one of those fields, and they then return for assistance in one of the other areas.
The firm was established in February of 2008. The firm was originally based in Hollywood, Florida, but in an effort to provide more accessibility to clients, the office is now based out of Coral Springs, with satellite offices in Plantation and Boca Raton.
After graduating St. Thomas University School of Law in 2003, I spent two years working at a small law firm where my focus was in the areas of Family Law, Estate Planning and Commercial Litigation. I was involved in all aspects of the law firm practice including litigation, transactional projects and firm management.
In 2006, I joined Barry G. Roderman & Associates, P.A., a civil trial firm, to expand my litigation experience. At that firm, my background in Federal Law and Complex Commercial Litigation was put to good use. I also continued forward, assisting clients in the areas of Family Law and Estate Planning.
I think that it is important that clients ask questions regarding legal issues. I provide clients with helpful resources, such as legal articles, so that the client is not relying on the internet as the final source of knowledge.
I am willing to review documents and usually provide a discounted rate, depending on length.
It is very difficult to coach clients who want to represent themselves. If I am not involved in aspects of the case and then asked to provide assistance, that information may not be on point to their specific case.
I decided to be an attorney because I enjoyed the ever-changing legal world. I also like the client contact and being able to help someone through a difficult time in his/her life.
In an effort to determine the areas of law I wished to focus on, I interned at various firms and courthouses. In college, I interned at the Philadelphia Courthouse for the Chief Judge in the Homicide Division. I then interned at a law firm in Atlanta, whose focus was in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Tax Law. In law school, I worked for an insurance defense trial firm and a Family Law trial firm. I also clerked for U.S. Magistrate Brown in Miami dealing with federal issues.
Based on the above, I determined that Family Law and Estate Planning would be my primary areas of law. I do however continue to practice in the area of Commercial Litigation.
Being a solo practitioner provides me the opportunity to choose the cases I work on. Having the right fit between a client and the attorney is not just important to the client, but to the attorney as well.
I am a solo practitioner, so all legal needs go directly through me. I also have an attentive legal assistant who assists me when I am not available to speak with a client. It is very important to have an assistant who is understanding and sensitive to issues in Family Law.
My firm's philosophy is to promote trust and understanding within the attorney/client relationship. Family Law is an area of law wherein people are very vulnerable to their circumstances and are sometimes hesitant to trust attorneys. By listening and then providing information to clients, without inundating them with legal jargon, is by far the best way to assist them.
Family and friends.
