The Burlington Branch of our firm opened in early 1980s. We just opened the Marysville branch in April 2008.

Previous Employment Summary

I was a financial analyst for a major credit card company and later an associate at a power trading company.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients should educate themselves on legal background knowledge. However, they should seek an attorney's advice for accuracy and clarification.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to review documents prepared by clients. However, due to technical aspects of documents like wills, trusts or even purchases/sales, the attorney should have a significant amount of input. Often times, forms purchased off of the internet or in a bookstore are invalid or do not accomplish what is desired.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am willing to give limited advice. Clients really need a lawyer to ensure their rights are protected and that the best result possible can be obtained. Too many people who represent themselves get burned.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I found my previous careers to be unsatisfying. I was looking for a career that was intellectually stimulating on a daily basis and that allowed me to help people who have either been injured by the actions of others or who are being prosecuted by various levels of the government. In becoming a lawyer, I wanted to ensure that people's rights are adequately protected. I decided to work in Marysville, Everett and the rest of Snohomish County, WA because I felt the area needed more effective attorneys.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have experience as a public defender.
I have always been surrounded by lawyers.
In previous careers I was required to perform high-level analytics and give presentations, which trained me for in-depth legal analysis as well as developed my oral advocacy skills.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I have always found criminal law and trials fascinating. However, defendants' rights continually get trampled upon. I wanted to ensure everyone is treated fairly and with respect.

As for personal injury, I am disgusted when I see large entities/businesses injure everyday people and get away with it essentially free. I practice personal injury to help people avoid enduring those injustices.

What do you like best about your career?

I love that my career is intellectually stimulating and that it always keeps me on my toes. I like to keep my brain sharp.

Tell us about your law firm:

Ashbach Law Offices currently consists of two lawyers, although we frequently consult with outside counsel.

What are your strengths and style?

I am aggressive and have a thorough understanding of criminal and personal injury laws, which enables me to obtain strong results for my clients. Much of my business is referrals from satisfied clients.

Personal Interests:

I grew up in the San Juan Islands, so my interests include fishing, crabbing and using tractors/bulldozers. Around Marysville, Everett and Snohomish Counties, I enjoy boating and playing golf.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
