I have practiced law in southern California for 20 years. I am a former in-house attorney for banks and financial institutions.

The firm was moved to Claremont in 2006, where we conveniently handle cases in the counties of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange.

Previous Employment Summary

I spent five years as the vice-president and legal counsel of the Wachovia Bank - Auto Finance Division (aka WFS Financial). For two years I was the vice-president and legal counsel for BBVA Bancomer USA. The balance of my career has been as a sole practitioner.

Volunteer - Christmas Elves Program, Riverside County Bar Association

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients should make every effort to educate themselves on their particular legal matters. In doing this, a client can determine if the legal matter is simple enough for the client to handle themselves or if they hire an attorney. My most successful cases have been when the client takes an active role in the legal process.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to review documents prepared by clients.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am happy to provide advice to clients regarding the legal process.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I feel that lawyers not only help businesses, they help level the playing field for individuals. My drive to help people led me to become a lawyer.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My 20 years of experience representing large financial institutions as well as individuals has helped me improve my legal skills. I understand how the system works from all sides. I have a knack for putting people at ease while they are experiencing sometimes-stressful legal processes.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I enjoy real estate and other related issues. I enjoy helping consumers through the legal process.

What do you like best about your career?

The best thing about being a lawyer is the ability to provide help where it is needed to those in need.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a sole practitioner, so I am very "hands on" with my clients. My litigation manger, Ed Garcia, and my legal secretary, Margarita Leal, have been with me for many years. We are experienced and responsive to our clients.

What are your strengths and style?

Because of my extensive legal experience, I am able to quickly access legal situations and explain them to my clients in terms they can understand. My clients deal with me and not junior associates.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy the outdoors and sports. I am an ex-college baseball player, golfer, kayaker, and surfer.

Nolo's Licensing Check

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
