Firm Focus and History

This is a new firm. I incorporated in June of 2008.

The focus of our firm is general practice including family law, criminal law and real estate.

Previous Employment Summary

Most of my previous employment has been at general practice or real estate firms.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I'm always glad to suggest ways for clients to broaden their understanding of the law. In my experience, a more informed client is a happier client.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to do so.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I don't recommend clients representing themselves except for small claims court. The procedural rules alone in most courts can be daunting for a layperson, as well as the substantive law. Small claims court is much more informal and relaxed.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I enjoy helping people solve their problems. My great-uncle was a lawyer, and I saw that he got a great deal of satisfaction from his work.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My mother taught me compassion for people and I think this empathy makes me a better lawyer. I find that being able to place myself in other people's shoes helps me understand the best way to help them.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I enjoy handling a variety of tasks, so I did not want to do just one area of law. Also, as a newly established firm, I want to keep my options open. They say that variety is the spice of life!

What do you like best about your career?

I like meeting new people and helping them with their problems. It's very gratifying when a matter is brought to a successful resolution. There's a definite sense of accomplishment.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner, so all my clients deal directly with me. I do my best to remain approachable and available at all times.

What are your strengths and style?

I'm very prompt about returning messages from existing or potential clients. I do my best to return all messages within 24 hours of receipt.

Personal Interests:

I am interested in martial arts, reading, DVDs and college football.
