The goal of our office is to provide efficient and results-oriented legal representation to all our clients. This office focuses on civil claims, including, but not limited to, auto accidents, slip and falls, medical malpractice, employment law, and professional negligence.
This office was formed on January 1, 2008, in Eugene, Oregon. As an attorney with the highly regarded Frohnmayer, Deatheradge law firm located in Southern Oregon, I learned the tools of the trade primarily working on the defense side of civil claims. Along with the decision to move my family back home to the Willamette Valley, I also made the decision to use the tools I learned on the defense side of the business to help individuals evaluate and obtain fair results for their injury claims.
• 2005-2007 - Associate attorney with the top rated law firm Frohnmayer, Deatheradge, et al. located in Southern Oregon. My practice with Frohnmayer, Deatheradge, included a wide range of disputes including insurance defense, personal injury, employment law, contract disputes, domestic relations, and criminal law.
• 2003-2005 - Judicial Clerk for the honorable Charles Carlson, Lane County Circuit Court Judge (Periodically). During and after successful completion of the Oregon State Bar Exam assisted Judge Carlson in all aspects of his civil and criminal responsibilities.
• 2002-2005 - Law Clerk for the top-rated insurance defense firm Kurtz, Ford, and Johnson, LLP located in Eugene, Oregon. I assisted the firm in all manners of civil litigation related to their primarily insurance defense practice.
A client cannot have too much interest in his or her own case, which includes a client's interest in the legal issues. As a lawyer, I welcome the opportunity to explain my analysis of the law. My ego is not so large that it causes me to ignore the fact that often times a client's ideas/thoughts can spark an effective argument that might have gone unnoticed.
I am more than willing to review documents (i.e. releases, settlements, contracts) for clients provided that we clearly define the scope of my representation at the very beginning of the process.
If the matter is a small claims case, I am willing to instruct/coach a client as much as the client is willing to pay for my advice. If the matter is a case that is more involved, it depends on the situation.
My intellectual curiosity and the history of the United States led me to law school. Upon practicing law, I realized that the practice is not only interesting, but involves an interpersonal aspect that I enjoy much more. Therefore, the more illuminating question is: Why do I remain a lawyer? The answer is quite simple: I enjoy working with my clients in an effort to solve the legal issues they face.
My work experience as an insurance defense lawyer gives me insight to the business side of lawsuits and the realities of an injury case.
I am the only one in my blue collar family that has a college degree. I am not a man who believes that respect is due to someone because of their title or education. I am a man with three children, and I volunteer with youth ministry. I believe that these things keep me grounded in what is the reality of most people in Oregon. I believe my experience makes me a better lawyer because it keeps me focused on the important things for both my clients and myself.
I chose civil litigation because I like the challenge of the jury trial and the strategy of all events leading up to trial.
I enjoy my interactions with my clients, many of whom I consider friends.
I am a solo practitioner. Within my office, I have a legal assistant, Emi Long, an investigator, Jennifer Hinton, and a book keeper.
Jennifer Hinton assists me in the evaluation and settlement of all my insurance claims. The atmosphere of my office is one of congeniality with a focus on ever increasing our efficiency in handling cases.
I consider myself a straight shooter. I believe in efficiency. I enjoy my day, so I laugh a lot. I do not believe in making lawsuits uglier than they have to be.
I like spending time with my three children (ages seven, five, and two), riding my bicycle and riding my Honda motorcycle. I also enjoy working in youth ministry at Eugene Faith Center primarily with Junior High-aged children.
Jen Hinton.

For the prosecution of an injury claim, I work on a contingency (I do not receive payment until I recover, and my fees are based on the amount that I recover). For any other civil case, my hourly rate is $225, except in the case of taxation billing, which is $475 per hour.
The fees associated with employment claims are determined on a case by case basis. Some employment cases I take on contingency, some I do not.
