This firm was established in 1974.
Our firm is designated by the United States Congress as an Official Debt Relief Agent to help people file for bankruptcy under the new bankruptcy law. Our goal is to give you a fresh start and to help you feel positive about your financial future.
It is our firm's belief that personal attention and dedication to each case is an absolute necessity. Anything short of this standard is unsatisfactory and not the reason clients come to our firm. We are unlike some law firms that advertise bankruptcy services, some of which are located outside of Northern California. Other firms run their business as a "bankruptcy mill" without providing the personal attention to each case that we believe is needed and deserved by the client.
The leading causes for bankruptcy are typically out of the client's hands, and there is no reason to feel guilty or ashamed. Typical bankruptcy cases are caused by medical bills, lost jobs, divorce, or declining house value.
If you want an experienced, trustworthy bankruptcy attorney with a reputation for compassionate results, then we are the firm for you.
I worked at the District Attorney's office in Denver, Colorado, before returning to Chico, California, where I grew up. I have been working for the Law Offices of Ken Baker since 2001.
I belong to the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA). I also attend continuing education seminars throughout the year.
Clients who educate themselves on their legal issues tend to be better prepared for the various steps taken in their cases, and also tend to be ready for those rare and unexpected deviations from the usual course.
I am always willing to review documents prepared by clients, unless the documents are irrelevant to their case.
We are willing to provide advice to clients unable to pay our fees and direct them to resources which may be helpful.
I've wanted to be an attorney my whole life. I find the profession challenging and rewarding.
I have lived overseas multiple times in primitive conditions and know what it is like to have very little. Because of my own family situation, I have compassion for very difficult situations and know what stress feels like. I am a good listener and keep in mind that each person's dilemma is new to him or her, which helps me be a better attorney. No matter how many cases I handle, I'm aware that each is unique to the client and each requires my personal attention.
I found that bankruptcy law was challenging yet it allowed me to resolve many problems in fairly short order. It feels good to help people dramatically improve their lives.
I pride myself in my firm's ability to help individuals on a daily basis. There is nothing more gratifying than meeting with clients after their bankruptcies have been discharged and seeing their warm smiles.
Our office consists of two attorneys and two paralegals. Both attorneys are hands-on and have a personal relationship with our clients. Both paralegals are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. All of us take great pride in the success of each of our client's cases.
I am a very personal and detail-oriented individual who strives for success in every case. I have empathy and do all I can to eliminate the financial strain of my clients' lives. I listen, and I care.
First and foremost is my family. I am married and have four kids. As a family, we enjoy all outdoor activities. I enjoy doing triathlons, hiking, water and snow skiing, and biking. I love reading, learning, great conversations, and expanding my knowledge. I love traveling and have lived in Thailand, Taiwan, and China.
