Example Cases

Our experience and success permeates the continuum of real estate issues. Throughout Contra Costa County, we are a respected Landlord specialist, willing to tackle the most difficult tenant related challenges that most others would shy away from. No tenant issue intimidates us away from clear, insightful and discerning representation. Sales transactions, and particularly Transfer Disclosure Statements, are an area of frequent abuse and unscrupulous misstatements. Utilizing the legal system to promptly rectify the problem, while holding the wrongdoers accountable, is an ongoing objective in virtually every sales transaction related case.

Unfortunately, when push comes to shove real estate agents, brokers, insurance adjusters, title companies, title insurance policies, and other parties in the transaction cannot be relied upon to deal with you fairly, objectively in accordance with applicable law. Competent, experienced representation is essential to protecting your rights.

Firm Focus and History

Since 1977, our unpretentious firm has been successfully assisting property owners in Contra Costa County in protecting, defending and asserting their real property rights and in accomplishing their objectives.

Previous Employment Summary

As a teen, I came to appreciate the benefits of hard work while tending to the needs of thoroughbred race horses. Throughout my college years, I learned about superior customer service while working at Disneyland. In the practice of law, my career has been forged out of the combination of hard work combined with superior client service.

Activities and Awards

I am on the mediator panel. I am asked to mediate cases in Contra Costa County.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

A client that takes the time to educate themselves on the issues at hand is far better equipped to make intelligent, objective and insightful decisions regarding the handling of any legal issue. The educated client requires far less attorney time and is able to be an effective partner in the making of crucial decisions that the client will ultimately have to live with. Knowledge provides insight and clarity.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

The savvy client understands that saving attorney time equates to saving money. When appropriate, a client prepared document can take far less attorney time to review than it would to draft.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

An attorney's stock and trade is selling his time for the benefit of his clients. Sometimes, considerable savings can be enjoyed by "coaching" a client who elects to represent themselves rather than have the attorney make the court appearance. Cutting costs for legal services is an appropriate objective for attorney and client alike. Attorney time is best utilized when it is absolutely needed to assure a proper result.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

As a sole practitioner, I have the luxury of exclusively representing nice people in matters that are worth litigating, if necessary.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

After 28 years of practice in Contra Costa County, we enjoy an outstanding reputation and creditability with Civil Judges throughout the county.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I understand and empathize with the issues involved in real property acquisition, ownership, management and preservation. Clear, insightful and competent representation in real estate matters is a pleasure to provide for a client you can truly care about.

What do you like best about your career?

Real estate law is relevant. Helping someone through a crisis, while dealing head on with issues that matter greatly to your client, remains a thrill.

Tell us about your law firm:

Each person in our firm is dedicated to the efficient, friendly, cost effective handling of each individual who trusts us with their case as if they were our only client.

What are your strengths and style?

Experience, insight and a creatively pragmatic approach is key. There is no substitute. As a seasoned litigator with an admirable track record, adversaries and Judges understand our firm represents creditable clients with legitimate causes.

I am comforting, knowledgeable, witty, unpretentious yet confident. It remains important to fully understand each client's objectives. This enables us to help chart a course of action that is most likely to meet those unique and specific objectives.

Personal Interests:

My interests are righting wrongs, vindicating injustices, correcting all that needs correction while striving for the best possible result for our clients.

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
