What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I feel this is important. It is always good to work with a client who is interested in his or her case and is well-informed.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We are willing to review documents prepared by clients but usually as a part of a larger case. We do not help clients practice law for themselves.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

We do not usually take on these sorts of cases.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

After studying business and receiving a BBA and an MBA, I worked in finance and insurance in a corporate environment. After a short period of time, I became frustrated with this career path because the position offered no real ability to help others and make a difference in the lives of our customers. It was a typical corporate bureaucratic position, and I quickly became aware of it. Because of my interest in business, history, politics, world news, social issues, and government, I decided to continue my education and study law. I knew this would help me to move toward a career that gave me the ability to help others in a meaningful way. This was the best professional decision I could have made at a unique time in my life.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I think a good education and a varied background is very important in the profession of law. I studied engineering, architecture, economics, finance and business in undergraduate school. I later earned a Masters of Business Administration and worked in the corporate environment in finance and insurance. As I gained more experience in a corporate and business environment, I found myself becoming more interested in law. I then attended the Georgia State University College of Law where I not only received a great legal education, but made many great friends that I see today.

My business litigation and transactional work provide the experience and ability to examine and tirelessly move through financial documents, both for business cases, including personal and small businesses, as well as family law cases involving large marital estates in need of equitable division. Business litigation cases tend to require fewer Court appearances, but the family law cases of my practice has afforded me the opportunity to appear in Court more often and hone skills necessary both for family law and business litigation.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I chose business law, family law, litigation, settlements, wills and trusts and bankruptcy as my primary areas of practice because of my educational background and interest in finance related matters. Through time, I have found that family and business law issues are often related and common in the cases. I feel that my skills from one area transfer easily to the other. In the last year, we have expanded into different areas of family law that have interested both me and attorney Jessica Chapman, Esq. We also offer representation settlements as an alternative to bankruptcy.

What do you like best about your career?

The day-to-day challenges of managing my own firm are what I really like best about my career. Being able to gradually expand into different areas of practice and the growth and success of the firm has kept me excited and hopeful for the future of the Law Office of Danny Coleman, PC.

Most importantly, I really enjoy meeting new people, learning about them on a personal level, and trying to help them with their problems. Each client is important to us and we try to help them not only with their legal problems, but also the moral and ethical issues that cases often present.

Tell us about your law firm:

In addition to attorney, Jessica Chapman, Esq., and attorney, Susan Martin, Esq., my firm has several paralegals and legal assistants. In addition, we have a dedicated financial and billing manager. Several of my employees are currently studying for their graduate and undergraduate degrees. They have been a great help to me in focusing the firm on short-term and long-term goals leading to our continued growth and success. Without overlooking the human and emotional aspects of a case my employees are diligent on the necessary technical legal issues. I am very proud of my staff and try to provide the best working environment we can for them. I also encourage the people I work with to pursue all of their professional and personal goals and aspirations in life.

What are your strengths and style?

One of my greatest strengths is my varied background and the technical knowledge and I have gained over time from having varied interests and hobbies. For example, I am knowledgeable in construction, cars, military and government contracts, insurance, finance, investing, business management, business negotiation, sales, computers, computer networks, and internet commerce.

Also, we utilize the latest computer software to maintain detailed and comprehensive records of my complex cases. This software allows me and my clients to quickly access case information and ensures that no details of the case are overlooked.

Personal Interests:

My personal interests include being tech savvy, fitness, travel, boating, fishing, traveling, playing guitar, reading, classical, listening to music, catching all the summer movies, attending comedy clubs, going to amusement parks, going to car shows and concerts, and most importantly - spending quality time with family and friends. I am also active in my Church and the local bar organizations.
