I attend CLE (Continuing Legal Education) seminars provided by the State Bar Association and through the various organizations to which I belong. I stay current through reading monthly publications provided by those organizations.
I have handled many cases in the areas of simple wills, trusts, amendments and estate plans. The most common types of cases that I encounter are trust amendments, will codicil, and probate or trust administration. A common scenario entails a client with a will or trust already drafted, but in need of an amendment or change to the existing document. It is very common that the individual already contacted the attorney who drafted the document only to learn that the attorney is no longer in practice or simply does not return his or her calls. I often receive referrals from former clients who have friends in similar situations.

I have been in solo practice since 2002.
My firm focuses on estate planning and probate law.
I have been part of various externships with San Diego Volunteer Legal and the Nevada Attorney General while I was in law school. I also worked part-time with a solo practitioner concentrating on estate planning throughout college. I immediately entered law practice once I was licensed in Hawaii.

The best clients are the ones who know what they want, who have researched the issue, and simply require my guidance to carry out their plans.
I am always willing to review pre-prepared documents.
I will assist clients in self-representation when appropriate.
Any of my grade school or high school friends can attest that I always wanted to be a lawyer. My father passed away when I was 17 without an appropriate estate plan. I remember accompanying my mother to a variety of lawyers who were more concerned with "selling" her new estate planning documents than helping sort out the complicated legal issues presented at a very stressful time in our life. I learned that I did not want to be like "those" lawyers. This experience reaffirmed my desire and commitment to being a lawyer.
I have personally experienced the stress associated with a loved one's death and the legal issues that follow such an event. I am most sensitive to this. In addition to my professional experience with probate matters, I have encountered several contested probate issues and can uniquely identify with both sides, professional and personal. I have a grasp of the different factors which accompany probate issues and estate plans in general.
My passion for the legal profession and my personal experiences in the area of estate planning solidified my desire to practice in this area of law.
I like getting to know my clients and personally addressing their legal issues. My family is involved in many different businesses and I've had many choices in lucrative career options. I chose to be a lawyer, and I love this stuff!
I am a solo practitioner, so my clients deal directly with me from intake to closing a case. It is not uncommon for me to make house calls to meet clients who cannot travel.
I am a small town lawyer who happens to live in the city. I know each of my clients personally and my main strength is my willingness to be accessible.
My pets. I have a purebred Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) and a terrier I rescued from the Humane Society.

No. Each client is unique and has unique legal issues. A fixed price for an estate plan (pour over will, trust, power of attorney, health care directive) assumes that all estates are the same. In my experience, some estate plans are very simple and others are more complicated.

Yes, I offer a free initial consultation.

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
