Firm Focus and History

Our firm was established in 1997. We restrict our practice to representing consumer debtors in filing chapter 7 or chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, or prosecuting violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Previous Employment Summary

I was a law clerk for an attorney who managed a title agency. I was also an assistant to a telecommunications professor at the University of Kansas.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

That is encouraged. I think that everybody is more satisfied when a client understands their rights and what is going on with their case.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

In this area of law, we're required to review factual information that is being submitted to the court.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I advise against individuals representing themselves in a bankruptcy filing. My experience is that, ultimately, it leads to a higher cost and higher risk for that person.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I became a lawyer to know the rules and laws that shape our country and use that knowledge to assist others.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My background in business allows me to be familiar with many of the concepts involved with this area of practice.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I've always enjoyed areas of law with a strong statutory structure. The Bankruptcy Code provides enough of a structure so that people aren't simply at the mercy of a judge or jury.

What do you like best about your career?

I like that I am able to provide people with true solutions to their financial difficulties.

Tell us about your law firm:

The people in my office work closely with each other to collaborate on every case. We've streamlined the process to be as efficient as possible for our clients.

What are your strengths and style?

One of my strengths is my attention to detail. This is very important in the area of bankruptcy because one piece of incorrect information can have substantial effect on the outcome of a case. I am willing to spend the time with clients until they understand what's being accomplished with their case and what their options are.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy running and music.
