Bar Number: 03087297
Texas state courts.
Texas State Bar, Houston Bar Association, Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, Alliance of Collaborative Family Law Attorneys, and Collaborative Family Lawyers of Houston.
I attend numerous continuing legal education courses each year which far exceed the minimum requirements for the State Bar of Texas, focusing on changes in the law, application of the law, legal drafting and tax matters affecting divorce.
I handle litigation cases for moderate income families as well as multimillion dollar estates. I also handle collaborative law cases for moderate and high end divorce and custody cases for those individuals who prefer to keep their matters private and out of the public eye. I have extensive experience in the negotiation and settlement of all family law matters through the use of alternative dispute resolution processes.

I was licensed in 1985 and opened my own firm in 1989. I have been a solo practitioner ever since.
We handle family law and divorce issues only.
For my first 5 years as a lawyer, I was employed by the "Diva of Family law" in Texas, an acknowledged leader in family litigation and a CPA who exposed me to the breadth and depth of family law.
I believe that it is absolutely essential that clients understand the subtle nuance of the law as well as the over-arching power of the courts before they turn their lives over to those courts and those laws. I highly recommend that every person contemplating divorce or separation pay for an hour or two of the time of an experienced litigator before embarking on this venture.
I am happy to review documents and will attempt in my review to educate the client and point out pitfalls and deficiencies created by the client's choice of words and lack of understanding of options.
I do so only on rare occasion and under limited circumstances after a thorough consultation with the client.
I have wanted to be a lawyer since I was 5 years old, and I accomplished my dream.
There is nothing in my life (I am 62 years old at the time of this writing) that has not prepared me to be a lawyer. I have worked as a nurse, a secretary, a cost accountant, and an engineering assistant in the oil and gas industry and every one of these experiences has proven useful to me, to my clients and to the courts in the presentation of cases.
My own divorce in 1978 which was completely amicable and respectful, lead me into the area of family law. It was never my intent to become a litigator. However, that is where God placed me and I learned from the very best. What the first 15 years of litigation taught me is that the best solution to every problem in life is outside the court room. That is why I have honed my skills in negotiation and alternative dispute resolution techniques, including collaborative law.
I love working with people, helping people and teaching people.
I am a solo practitioner who works with one paralegal. My paralegal can offer assistance to the degree permitted by law and serve as a conduit to me for the client during busy periods. However, the client will primarily deal with me, and I use email with clients to expedite answering of minor questions.
I am extremely honest, straightforward and bottom line with my client. I don't believe in pursuing a legal maneuver just because one can. Every legal maneuver costs the client money and I advise my clients to conserve their money for their future use and not to expend their money to vet petty, fleeting emotional impulses.
I am a seminary student pursuing a Masters in Theology and, therefore, the study of Scripture is very important to me. I love my brother and my dog unabashedly. I am an avid scrapbooker and amateur photographer.
