Firm Focus and History

Our firm was established in 1997. We restrict our practice to representing consumer debtors in filing Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, or prosecuting violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Previous Employment Summary

I have devoted much of my professional career to protecting the rights of individual consumers in Bankruptcy Court. I worked for the Law Offices of Peter Francis Geraci, PC and managed the bankruptcy practice at the Law Offices of Ernesto Borges, PC before joining Legal Helpers as the Wisconsin practice Manager.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it is helpful for clients to review basic information about their particular legal problem. However, I would always recommend that a client hire an attorney to represent them in a legal matter, even if it seems simple. I've learned that rarely is anything as "simple" as it appears and sometimes a little knowledge is more dangerous then no knowledge.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I prefer to handle a case from beginning to end. The nature of my practice does not lend itself well to review documents for people not intending to hire me to represent them. I have, however, on rare occasions, appeared on cases previously filed pro-se.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

No, I don't think that this is a good idea.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I have always felt the need to champion myself on behalf of others, even at an early age. And, I like a good argument from time to time.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I was raised by a family with a farming background of modest means. My family worked hard to survive and that same strong work ethic drives me now as I identify and advocate for hard working people.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Bankruptcy was a natural fit for me, given the amount of client interaction and high level of satisfaction from helping others.

What do you like best about your career?

The high level of satisfaction knowing I helped others out of difficult financial times.

Tell us about your law firm:

I work with the most knowledgeable and customer service oriented staff of any Bankruptcy firm.

What are your strengths and style?

I am a no-nonsense lawyer. I do not use legalese and I explain difficult concepts in plain terms. I am easy going, but can be tough when I need to be. I am very good at educating my clients about the legal process and about the practical applications for them in their daily lives.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy spending time with my wife, child and dog. I love living the outdoors Wisconsin life style.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
