My firm was established in 2002 and our primary focus is family law without litigation, including: divorce representation and mediation, prenuptial agreements, planning for the future, and domestic partnerships.
Before now I was an attorney at two law firms - one in Chicago and one in Oak Brook, IL. I was the Director of Planned Giving, Child Welfare Agency at one point as well. Before that I was a small business owner, a mathematics teacher, and a realtor.
Adjunct Professor at John Marshall Law School in Chicago, IL.
I believe that education is always valuable. Clients who are educated are in a better position to make decisions. It is important that all individuals going through divorce understand their options, which include: mediation, collaborative law, uncontested divorce, and traditional litigation.
I am willing to review documents prepared by clients, so long as the clients are receptive to modification recommendations. Often, documents prepared by clients lack the necessary legal components.
I am willing to do this in limited circumstances, but only on a case-by-case basis.
Having gone through a divorce myself, I believed divorce could and should be handled in a different way, a way that would preserve dignity and respect for both parties involved.
All my life experiences, including, without limitation, different careers in which I have worked, such as teaching, parenting three sons and various community services.
I wanted to make a difference for individuals going through the difficult
time of divorce by offering alternative processes with dignified and compassionate, yet effective and strong advocacy in negotiation.
I do make a difference for individuals going through the difficult time of divorce by offering alternative processes with dignified and compassionate yet effective and strong advocacy in negotiation. My clients go forward to start their new lives empowered by having made their own decisions, having effectively participated in negotiating their future.
Although I am a solo practitioner and all clients work directly with me, I also have the advantage of an attorney of counsel to my firm, Charles Lee Mudd Jr., who is available to assist my clients in other areas of legal practice. In addition, I am fortunate to have a paralegal assistant with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and she is sensitive and attentive to all the needs of my clients.
I am a strong advocate for my clients, and I truly care about them. At the same time, I have the ability to understand all aspects of a case and to counsel my clients about having realistic expectations. I am compassionate and enjoy knowing my clients, communicating with them in a relaxed, comfortable manner.
I am interested in almost everything, and I enjoy all sorts of activities. I love to be with people. It's very important to me to be busy and to learn constantly. I am attentive to and enjoy politics, community activities and gardening.
Diane Monaco, a paralegal assistant.
