Firm Focus and History

Harris Law Center travels the entire State of Illinois meeting and interviewing injured people. We visit hospitals, nursing homes and private homes to gather the information needed to begin the claim. We have developed a network of professionals to assist us with every aspect of liability and damages.

David Harris began general practice in 1976. As managing partner, he directed attorneys and support staff to concentrate on client care, with phone calls returned the same day and client needs are addressed immediately. We know that we represent people in crisis and take every step to help relieve the stress and strain of being hurt. We assist families in dealing with the insurance companies and bill collectors.

Previous Employment Summary

General practice has been my constant employment.

Activities and Awards

I have served as a Hearing Officer and Administrative Law Judge for State agencies.

I volunteer for Judicial Evaluations and Supreme Court Rules. I am Outreach Director for our local bar association.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients must be their own best advocate. They must become familiar with the medical treatment and legal issues involved in their case. We can help by providing you with the information you need.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We rely upon client input and background to prepare client documents.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

We have prepared people to represent themselves in cases where they cannot hire us.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I knew I could make a difference in people's lives by attaining the education and skills to help them through the legal system.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Community service is important to my family and brings us in touch with all types of people from all walks of life. We volunteer for various charitable causes and help raise money and public awareness. We promote professionalism among our peers and adhere to the highest ethical standards in our lawyering.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I am married to a registered nurse. Her dedication to her patients and their families is inspiring and she has taught me how to advocate for injured people. She helps me assess injuries and medical care. Her knowledge and networking brings a valuable component to our client care.

What do you like best about your career?

The "Thank You" notes and family photographs from satisfied clients.

Tell us about your law firm:

All injury clients deal directly with me. My secretary has over 30 years experience in getting things done for our clients. My son is my junior partner and a whiz at research and case preparation.

What are your strengths and style?

I am a hands-on people person. My clients have my cell phone number so we are always in contact. Communication is our #1 priority!

Personal Interests:

I get lots of exercise. I start my day with a trail run or bike ride. I enjoy golf with my son and hiking with my wife and daughter.
