I currently practice solely in the field of family law. I first practiced as a legal services attorney for those not able to afford an attorney. I have prior experience as a civil litigator, and I have practiced employment law, business litigation, and estate planning. I have practiced exclusively in the area of family law since 1997.
Prior to obtaining a law degree, I worked in the medical field in hospital management.
I am an instructor of family law seminars for attorneys.
I do not expect a client to have legal expertise, but I do think a well informed client is better able to make well reasoned decisions.
I will review documents prepared by clients.
I am happy to coach clients who wish to represent themselves. I am also willing to represent clients on a limited scope basis.
I decided to practice law because it is interesting and challenging work.
I have attended hundreds of legal education classes and seminars. I have been a speaker at many of those classes. Each of these experiences helps make me a better lawyer.
I enjoy working directly with people and assisting them in one of the most difficult times of their lives.
I like helping people through a difficult process with a fair outcome and a minimum amount of money spent.
I am a solo practitioner. I work with two other solo practitioners. We have several legal assistants. My office is located in a historical house made into offices.
I work very hard and I am always prepared. Most of my cases settle without a trial. However, if it is necessary to go to trial, we go fully prepared to win.
Fair but firm. I try to settle all cases, but for those that end up in litigation, we go to win.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like to hike, ski, and travel.
