Our firm focuses exclusively on representing seriously injured people and their families.
A member of my family has been practicing law in the Chicago-land area continuously for more than 100 years. This firm started in 1978 as a litigation firm doing both plaintiff and defense work. We decided to limit our practice to the representation of plaintiffs about 10 years ago.
I was a litigation associate at the Massachusetts firm of Bowditch & Dewey from 1985-1987. I founded the Law Offices of Michael W. Clancy in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1987 and practiced there until 1992 when I joined this firm.
American Board of Trial Advocates, 2001; Illinois Super Lawyer (2006, 2007, and 2008); Lawdragon 3000 Leading Lawyers in America, Fall 2006, Winter 2007; Dupage American Inn of Courts, Master of the Bar and Team Leader, 2006-2007; Martindale-Hubbell AV rated.
We're absolutely in favor of clients who are knowledgeable about their claims and the legal issues involved in them.
Reviewing things prepared by our clients is an essential part of case preparation. We consider communication with our clients to be our most fundamental job.
It depends on the issue. If I think that I can adequately equip a client to handle something themselves, I'm happy to do it.
I became a lawyer because it gave me an opportunity to empower and help reshape the lives of people who had encountered tragedy.
I have been fortunate to try a number of cases in the state and federal courts of three states. My trial experience and results set us apart. I've also worked as a carpenter, driven a tractor trailer, and had a variety of other life experiences which help me to better understand the things that my clients face in the wake of a serious injury.
I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Helping people who come into the office in the midst of one of the worst times in their lives to regain a measure of control and stability and a sense of hope is the most satisfying thing I can imagine.
I practice with my father, a trial lawyer with 45 years of experience. My sister, who used to practice with us, was recently named an associate judge in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, Kane County, Illinois. We have three wonderful paralegals, Sara, Karen, and Coleen, who work with us—they've all been a part of our practice for more than 10 years.
We are smart, aggressive, experienced, and we simply work harder than our opponents. We are proud of our client communication and involvement.
My wife and I are involved in dog rescue and emergency animal rescue. I'm a member of the Humane Society of the United States National Disaster Animal Rescue Team (NDART) and a trained volunteer for United Animal Nations' EARS (Emergency Animal Rescue Service) and Noah's Wish. I'm also a trained human search and rescue specialist (SARTECH II).
