Assisted an immigrant from Kosovo (former Yugoslavia) who had been living in the U.S. for more than twenty years in reopening his deportation order and obtaining permanent residency ("green card"). Challenged the denial of a motion to reopen issued by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) before the U.S. Court of Appeals (2nd Circuit) resulting in the Court of Appeals granting the appeal and sending the case back to the BIA for further review. Represented a client before the BIA in a case in which the Immigration Judge had granted the client's defense to deportation but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appealed the decision to the BIA. The client remained in DHS detention during the appeal but the BIA found in favor of the client and agreed with the Judge's decision and ordered the client's release from detention. Represented a client from Iran before the Immigration Judge and the client was granted withholding of asylum from being deported to Iran. Also have assisted numerous immigrants in obtaining green cards through family members or employers.

It is extremely important, especially in the area of immigration law, that clients are educated in the law as it relates to their circumstances. A large percentage of the work that I do is educating clients concerning the immigration laws based on their individual circumstances and status.
I have reviewed documents prepared by clients a number of times and I continue to provide this service. I always advise these client that if they have certain issues in their case which may be a problem later on they should retain the services of an experienced immigration attorney.
I do offer a case preparation consultation for clients who do want to represent themselves. However I do urge clients that have potential issues in their case which can pose a problem to retain the services of an experienced immigration attorney.
I decided to become a lawyer because I wanted to help those who cannot help themselves. The majority of my clients are uneducated and need the assistance of an experienced professional who will fight for them and their family.
The fact that I lived in Europe as a child with my family and traveled extensively was an invaluable education and experience in that it exposed me to different nationalities and cultures. My work experience early in legal career in areas other than just immigration has helped me in my immigration practice since the practice of immigration law involves so many difference disciplines including family, criminal and business law.
I chose immigration as my area of practice for the reason that ever since law school, when I took a course in immigration law, I decided that this is the area I want to practice. The impact a successful case has on an immigrant and his or her family is exhilarating.
I enjoy the challenge of assisting immigrants in achieving their dream to legally work and live in the United States and raise their family.
I have an associate who is a licensed attorney in the states of CT and NY and who is an extremely good researcher and writer which is an invaluable resource. I also have two full time legal assistants who are fluent in Spanish and have a combined ten years experience in immigration issues. I also have an office manager who has seven years experience in managing an immigration practice.
I meet with each and every client who comes to the office personally for an initial consultation. I then strategies each client's case and advise the client what we can do to assist them.
I am married and we have two daughters. I enjoy family activities as well as fishing, golf and rowing.
