Firm Focus and History

To assist families with the transfer of wealth in consideration of tax and non-tax objectives.

Self-employed and self-established since 1967. The firm is run by my wife and I, and our clientele is ever expanding.

Previous Employment Summary

My firm has been a member of some partnerships throughout the years. One partnership was in 1969 and lasted till 1980. Another partnership was from 1986 till 1988, and a third was from 1992 till 1996. Since 1996 my firm has been without a partnership.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I believe some legal issues are too intricate and specialized to gather proper detailed comprehension by clients doing research on their own. Although I support clients further educating themselves on general legal issues by giving them material to read up on, I feel prospective clients should consult a lawyer who has more background on specific legal needs. I am always open to answering questions from clients.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am comfortable reviewing self-made documents and willing to help clients alter them as needed, as well as make useful suggestions to them.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am not willing to help with coaching clients who want to represent themselves. I feel clients generally do not have enough knowledge on the matter at hand, and would blame the advising lawyer if the client lost in court.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

At first I wanted to be a criminal lawyer, but later decided to pursue studies in estate and tax law.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

For ten years I was a trial lawyer and went to court everyday, so I have lots of experience in a courtroom setting with different types of cases.

After years of working with different kinds of clients I have learned how to be a good listener and feel that this has allowed me to become a good lawyer. I also feel that I understand my boundaries very well, and am able to live up to expectations and meet goals set before me.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

There is a lot of variety in the types of cases and clients, and as a result I have to learn different aspects of the law.

What do you like best about your career?

There is always something new to learn.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner and do all the work on my own work. This allows me to not worry about others making mistakes or missing important information. My wife is my administrative assistant.

What are your strengths and style?

I take a personal interest in clients, and they often become friends. I only take on as much work as I can handle, and gets back to people in a timely manner. I spend a good deal of time with clients in order to ensure the highest quality and attention to detail that I can.

Personal Interests:

Golf, skiing, scuba diving, and the New York Philharmonic are some interests of mine. I like jazz, opera, and classical music. I also like art. My favorite type of art is impressionist art. I am a food and wine lover too.
