Client Testimonials
Dear Tim,
Jason and I are still in awe of the way in which this property tax thing was turned around. We feel such gratitude! We are so grateful for your willingness to get involved and your perception and persistence. Every once in a while Jason will say, "I can still hardly believe it!" and we both experience again that enormous relief we felt the morning you called with the news.
The sudden and seemingly unfair increase in taxes was a shock and a burden to us, one we were reminded of frequently. And the prospect of walking into a hearing to tell our tale was daunting. Every time it came to thought, it brought me down. I had begun to succumb to the "us and them" suggestion, that because we were just "the little people," there wasn't much we could do when up against bureaucracy, a feeling that did not help at all.
I admit I prayed, not that this would be reversed or people influenced in our favor, but just to see that what was right would be revealed. I began to feel more at peace about the outcome. It seems to me that you were the answer to prayer?.you entered the scene and with a desire to help and to get at the real heart of the matter, you persisted and went the extra mile in writing the letter supporting your findings. You were so clear and kind in your conversations with me. You really have no idea what this has meant to us. (While Jason was always assuring me that we would manage with what seemed our fate, he revealed to me after the reversal that he was very worried about how we would manage.)
So what can I say. It is clear you are a man of integrity and I am grateful that you express that integrity in the practice of law. You have been the key to lifting a burden, and overturning what was actually an inaccurate and therefore unjust sentence. And you have affected our lives in a powerful way. What a gift!! Believe me, there's a lot more joy felt over here these days!
With enormous thanks --
Sylvia

I served as a board member of the California Dispute Resolution Council from 2000-2002.
If clients are interested in educating themselves, an understanding of legal issues can be very helpful. However, I recognize that a client relies on the attorney for legal knowledge, and should not feel obligated to learn the law.

Yes.
I enjoy helping people, and I appreciate the intellectual challenges of being a lawyer.
My education at UC Berkeley and UC Hastings definitely prepared me to be a lawyer, but I would cite three experiences that have helped me be a better lawyer. First, I have had a broad experience over the past 15 years, and that experience enables me to counsel clients on issues that they may not have considered. Second, in becoming a lecturer on property tax issues, I have developed an expertise that few lawyers possess. Finally, having worked as a full-time mediator, I learned the importance of listening - especially to your client.
I have pursued a business and real estate transactional practice because I enjoy the satisfaction of helping small business owners and families. I developed an expertise in property tax issues because as property values have risen since the passage of Prop 13, property taxes have become a significant concern for my clients.
I like the personal interaction with clients and working as a problem-solver.
Our firm offers outstanding transactional attorneys, litigators, and estate planning attorneys. We provide the quality of a large San Francisco law firm at much lower billing rates.
I am very responsive to my clients, and will maintain close communication so that the client knows what to expect.
Spending time with my wife and three young kids, traveling, and outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, soccer, jogging, and tennis.
