Bankruptcy
I prefer to work with clients who are willing to consider alternatives to bankruptcy as I believe they have a better prospect of raising their credit scores rather then have the bankruptcy stigma attached to their credit file for 10 years. I am often able recover money for the clients where there have been violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act or where there has been a suit filed against the client.

I attend continuing legal education seminars and frequently speak in Ohio and across the county on consumer law issues. I always exceed the required amount of continuing education.
My article titled The Taxation of Cemetery Organizations was published in "Taxes, The Tax Magazine" in 1979 and later reprinted in "The American Cemetery."
We handle consumer class actions of all types including repossession cases, false advertising, and unfair debt collection practices. We also handle automobile fraud cases of all types including rebuilt wrecks, undisclosed daily rental cars, financing fraud by the dealerships. In addition we handle a number of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act cases involving the unlawful third party debt collectors. We handle the defense of many types of law suits filed by creditors against consumers.

Ronald Frederick & Associates Co., L.P.A's mission is to defend consumers against unfair business practices, including abusive debt collectors and repossessions, deceptive automobile transactions, home improvement scams. Additionally, our firm works routinely with consumer advocates and government agencies to change the legal landscape to prevent such abuses from occurring and to help educate consumers on their rights. Although the firm does some consumer bankruptcy work, we find that many people who are considering bankruptcy do not actually need to file bankruptcy. But rather have a pressing issue such as a debt collector hounding them or they are being sued for either an automobile deficiency following repossession or for credit card debt. We have found that in the majority of those cases there are defenses that we can assert on a consumer's behalf and in many cases may be able to assert claims for violation of consumer protection laws against the business that claim money is owed.
Managed a cemetery in Avon, OH. Sales representative for ZEP Manufacturing Co., which was a leading manufacture of commercial specialty chemicals. Was Rookie of the year in 1987 for the Midwest Region and worked there until 1992. While in law school went to work full time at a mid sized plaintiff's personal injury firm.
Pro-bono work for Legal Aid.
My clients are consumers who have been unfairly treated and taken advantage of, in part, because they were unaware of their rights. My firm believes it is important for consumers to know their rights and we work with consumer groups and legal aid to help educate them.
This would depend on the client and the circumstances.
I would prefer to distinguish the role of client and attorney and assume all responsibility for legal matters. I believe coaching clients could lead to complications and be more time consuming than handling the case directly. However, in the appropriate circumstances I will coach people on how to handle some of their own legal affairs.
At a young age I had an experience where I was drawn into a store by an advertising pitch only to have the store alter its promotion upon my arrival. I argued my case and the law and was able to persuade the manager to uphold the store's initial promise. I realized at that time how easily people can be taken advantage of by unscrupulous businesses and felt I should do something to eradicate these practices.
I also have been encouraged by others and saw in myself traits complimentary to practicing law, including good communication skills and the ability to craft and support a position in a manner to persuade others to my point of view.
Any and all experiences that cause you to have to work hard, plan and organize, learn new information, processes and technology, interact, cooperate and communicate with people of varying backgrounds and personalities, and face adversity and challenges can and will contribute to making you a better lawyer.
While working as a law clerk, I was introduced to a small collection of cases concerning consumer law. Once I was practicing I was referred what I thought would be a small auto fraud case. As it turned out, the case was much more involved then I originally thought and I fell in love with the area and it became my passion.
I get to do something stimulating and worthwhile each day and help people who are generally powerless from being preyed upon. It is hard work but very rewarding personally and professionally.
I have two associate attorneys who share my passion for consumer law and want to change the legal environment to protect vulnerable people and honest businesses from those who are unscrupulous. I also have a dedicated paralegal who is working toward her Juris Doctor with my support and encouragement. I care about my staff and their families and consider them my friends.
I genuinely care about what I do. I am passionate about my work and a true student of my area of law. I also am good at seeing the big picture and developing theories and strategies for cases. I have a calm, understated style and am courteous to opposing counsel and clients.
First and foremost my family, which includes my wonderful wife, who is also my best friend, and my amazing son. I love my family and enjoy the precious time we spend together. I am quite social and enjoy meeting new people, and going out with friends. For hobbies, I enjoy golf, watching most forms of automobile racing and sports, Sudoku puzzles, chess and other mentally challenging games.
