What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think the more information clients have, the more they are empowered.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

This depends on the circumstances.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

It is unlikely that I would coach a client in this regard. It is difficult to do in this area of law. I would answer some questions for persons representing themselves, however.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I am committed to the practice of law as a vehicle for progressive social change.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have been litigating harassment, discrimination, and abuse of power cases in state and federal courts for more than two decades. My experience as a law professor focused on issues of women and the law also gives me a breadth of understanding of these issues.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

My commitment to fight discrimination is long-standing and deep.

What do you like best about your career?

Finding the litigation strategy that will achieve the best result for our clients keeps me very interested in my work. I also appreciate the opportunity to work with wonderful clients.

What are your strengths and style?

My colleagues tell me that my strategic advice is particularly strong.

With opposing counsel, I am direct, no-nonsense, unwavering when necessary, and collegial whenever possible. With clients, I am communicative, direct, and understanding.

Personal Interests:

I am an avid kayaker and an environmentalist. I am also involved in movements for social justice.
