Firm Focus and History

I have been a solo family law practitioner since June of 2002. My practice is limited to family law matters: divorce; custody; spousal and child support; restraining orders.

Previous Employment Summary

Between 1981-2000 I was an active real estate broker.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I believe in educating my clients to the law applicable for their circumstances and encourage them to educate themselves. I am always willing to explain legal issues and the policy behind court orders.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Won't do it due to liability concerns.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I won't do it due to liability concerns. I am willing, however, to draft Marital Settlement Agreements and prepare judgments after clients have agreed on the major issues.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I enjoy the intellectual challenge of problem solving and I believe that my life experience and communication skills help me assist people. I firmly believe in, and support, settlements whenever possible.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My experience as a real estate broker who negotiated complex transactions, as well as my experience raising two educated, successful children contributes to being a better lawyer.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

During law school, I interned with the Family Law facilitator and I discovered an interest in Family Law.

What do you like best about your career?

What I like best is when I feel that I help maintain stability in the lives of children while their parents are going through a divorce.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner working with one paralegal, who is also attending law school. A good amount of the paperwork is completed by my paralegal at a fraction of the cost of my time.

What are your strengths and style?

I am in favor of settlements whenever possible. I don't shy away from a fight when the other party is being unreasonable.

Personal Interests:

Travel, reading, and listening to classical music.
