At Weintraub & Selth, APC, we built our reputation on helping individuals and small and medium-sized businesses overcome their problems and succeed financially.
What distinguishes our firm from other bankruptcy and civil litigation law firms in Southern California is our commitment to our clients. Our attorneys have never viewed a client as a detached legal problem, case number or a fee. We view each client as an unique individual with a challenge which we are entrusted to solve. Our motto is: "When you hire our firm the problem is off your desk and on ours." We want you to focus on making money and the other things which you are good at. We are creative and aggressive in developing client solutions.
No matter what type of financial problem you are facing, our lawyers have the experience and commitment to help you. We assist individuals and businesses in filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy. We are also expert in representing businesses, creditors and landlords in bankruptcy and representing plaintiffs and defendants in business litigation, debt collection and enforcement of judgments.
We are a debt relief agency. We help people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
I began my career at the premiere boutique bankruptcy law firm Levene & Eisenberg. I then became the senior associate in the Banking and Finance Department of nationally recognized firm Sheppard, Mullen, Richter & Hampton, and have also served as in-house counsel for City National Bank. I established my own firm in 1992, and formed Weintraub Law Corporation in 2001, now known as Weintraub & Selth, APC.
I am a member of the Los Angeles County and the Beverly Hills Bar Associations and the Individual and Consumer Bankruptcy Sub-Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Section on Commercial Law and Bankruptcy. As a longstanding member of Professional Network Group, an alliance of senior level professionals from the fields of law, accounting, banking, finance, insurance and consulting, I am able to refer my clients to trustworthy, accountable, seasoned professionals in virtually any field.
Our guiding principal is that when a client hires our firm, "The problem is off their desk and on ours". Our clients come to us at times of great stress and difficulty in their lives. We work with great care to alleviate this stress for them and to provide a cost effective way to a better healthier life. The lawyers of Weintraub & Selth, APC work as a team with the client. The reality is that we will never know the facts and circumstance of the client's life as well as he or she knows it and the client will never know the law as well as we do. But we have discovered that if we educate each other in our respective areas of expertise, the firm can achieve the best result for our clients. As a result, we spend as much time as the client wishes to educate him or her about the law and carefully understanding the facts and circumstances of the client's situation. It is important that the client understand the process from start to finish so he or she is not surprised. A surprised client is usually an unhappy client. We never want our clients to be surprised.
Definitely; and we will comment on them and provide our professional input.
Yes, although it is rarely the best situation for the client, we are willing to do so.
I decided to become a lawyer because I wanted to fight for people's rights. I have always been a competitive person and I enjoy winning--especially winning for my clients. I am a passionate person and enjoy fighting for my clients.
I have extensive training as both a creditor's and debtor's attorney. As a result, I know how banks and credit card companies think, which makes me a better lawyer for my debtor clients.
I decided to become a bankruptcy attorney in order to help clients deal with what I believe is one of the most difficult times of their lives.
Financial crisis is extremely stressful. But with a well designed game plan and a strong, trustworthy and dedicated advocate, clients experience immediate relief and can get back to living their lives.
What I like best about my career is being the last line of defense for my clients and truly taking care of them. I help my clients through the difficult challenges that life has put before them in order to return to wholeness.
I have a brilliant, honorable and dedicated partner. I have two junior attorneys. All of our lawyers have extensive bankruptcy, trial and negotiation experience. As an example, the most junior lawyer in my firm has handled over 70 trials.
The firm has handled hundreds of bankruptcies and I believe we are the only firm in the Los Angeles area with expertise in chapters 7, 11 and 13. Many firms will advise a client to file the type of bankruptcy which is best for the firm. Because we have expertise in all of these areas, we always do what is best for the client.
I work in tandem with my partner because two brains are almost always better than one for our clients.
We have never had a client lose an asset in bankruptcy who didn't know before the case was filed that the asset was at risk.
We are creative and aggressive negotiators for our clients.
We handle debt negotiation for our clients and often save them thousands and in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars without the need of a bankruptcy.
The success rate for chapter 11 cases in the United States is approximately 10%. Our firm has a success rate in excess of 90%.
We have tremendous connections within the bankruptcy community and use them to our clients' benefit.
I am very hands on and directive. I am aggressive but never stupid. Many attorneys are too afraid to roll up their sleeves and provide meaningful advice to their clients. They answer clients' questions about the law, but don't really give them advice. I think that is a disservice to clients. I am "old school." I believe clients are coming to me for advice and guidance and because I am an expert in solving their specific problems. I am committed to providing them with expert advice and thoughtful and aggressive legal representation.
I am dedicated to my family and friends and enjoy spending every free minute with them. I enjoy travel and good food. I am an avid sports fan.
