Firm Focus and History

The firm was established in 1972. At that time there were fewer that 60,000 lawyers in California. Today there are more than 200,000. That's an important reason to choose your lawyer very carefully. Nothing substitutes for experience and longevity. Remaining in continuous practice for more than 35 years means we have earned public confidence.

The firm practices only family law. We believe that a good settlement is better than a good trial. In addition to divorce, support, custody, paternity and all other general family law issues, I am an expert in Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Gaining knowledge of or about legal issues and the legal process can help clients better manage their case.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We are very willing to review documents and assist with filings.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am willing to work with clients to help them achieve the the goals they desire.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

My mother wanted me to be a doctor. My grandfather, who was aware that I fainted at the sight of blood but loved a good fight, "nudged" me into the study of law. I will be eternally grateful!

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I had my first "job" at age 12 sweeping out the local candy store before school. I worked my way through high school, college and graduate school. We were one of those families that was not poor, but my brothers and I had to learn to measure our needs by serving the needs of others. Life's lesson: the world is a world of people; to help yourself, help others.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I lived through the agony and expense of divorce as I was finishing law school. I believe that family law chose me rather than my choosing it.

What do you like best about your career?

What job could be better? I help others, contribute to the common good and live a rewarding life.

Tell us about your law firm:

Chris Wasson spent many years in the banking profession before starting law school. He rose to management positions and gained a keen insight into the financial world. He undertook law as a challenge and a natural "next step" in his career. His keen interest in the law caused him to change the focus of his life to the practice of law. Chris is an excellent family law lawyer and of great benefit to our clients in matters of finance and banking.

What are your strengths and style?

Attempt settlement by negotiation and reason. I believe that a good settlement is better than a good trial. Very strong courtroom presence if negotiation fails.
