Family Law
I welcome all clients. I am willing to travel to your place of convenience - home, office, restaurant, etc. I also find most of my clients are very happy communicating by phone and email.
Divorce
I prefer to work with clients in the beginning of their divorce. However, I don't limit my practice to new clients or new cases. I am willing to travel to your place of convenience - home, office, restaurant, etc. I also find most of my clients are very happy communicating by phone and email.

I am admitted to practice in the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I am also admitted to practice in the federal courts of the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the New Jersey District Court.
New York State Bar Association, New York County Lawyer's Association, New York Women's Bar Association, and Financial Planning Association.
I regularly attend legal education seminars in areas relevant to my practice or the needs of my clients.
While I aggressively pursue my clients’ interests, my goal is to obtain a win-win situation for both parties, where possible, by focusing on the bigger picture.
For example, in a divorce case, it is better for the parties to agree on how they will distribute assets accumulated during the marriage instead of fighting in court, running up legal fees, and escalating the stress in an already stressful situation.
For child custody cases, I also find it much better for my client and their children if both parents can agree to a custody or visitation schedule. Such agreements allow for greater flexibility in custody and visitation, decrease the tension in dropping off and picking up the children and encourage the parents to work together where it concerns the children.

My practice focuses on family law, matrimonial matters, and estate planning and administration.
I opened the Law Offices of Bonnie L. Mohr as a general practice law firm in 2004. I have since found I can better serve my clients if I focused my practices on specific areas of the law. As most people sought my advice with their family matters or estate planning needs, my practice now focuses on family law, matrimonial law, and estate planning and administration.
I worked with and continue to work with Jacobson & Colfin, PC, in an "Of Counsel" position. Jacobson & Colfin, PC, is an intellectual property firm specializing in music business, copyright, trademarks and civil litigation. Their website is thefirm.com.
I have worked with Leatha Sturges, of the Law Offices of Leatha J. Sturges, from 2003 through 2006. The Law Offices of Leatha J. Sturges is a general practice firm.
I am a martial artist. Tuesday afternoon I teach Isshinryu Karate to children.
I am a counselor at law. It is my job to advise my clients of their options, advise I am a counselor at law. It is my job to advise my clients of their options, advise them of the possible outcomes of their options and to help them exercise their options. Whether I educate them as to the legal issues or they educate themselves, they, ultimately, will make the major decisions.
However, I do caution individuals that try to represent themselves. Although well educated about a particular issue, they may fail to recognize that there can be other legal issues or practical concerns.
I do review documents prepared by clients.
I generally do not coach clients that represent themselves. I do not like to give advice without having all the facts. Even though the individual may think they have provided all the necessary facts, they do not know law and cannot know which facts are necessary.
I became a lawyer because of its flexibility and diversity. As a solo practitioner, I meet and work with all kinds of people in all types of situations and reach all manners of solutions. It can be very hectic, sometimes crazy, and usually gratifying.
I come from a large, diverse family and I've been exposed to a lot of family issues before and after becoming a lawyer. I use those pre-lawyer days to analyze the problem from the non-legal viewpoint. Sometimes you need to resort to the courts to resolve the problem, sometimes you don't. But you do need someone with legal experience to help you make that decision.
I didn't choose family law. Family law chose me. I started my own firm as a general practice lawyer. I have also worked in a no-fault insurance firm while in law school and an intellectual property law firm. However, I found that people frequently need help with their domestic issues. They don't need me for copyrights or trademarks; they need me to help them with their divorce action, child support hearing or paternity proceeding.
My practice has the potential to change people's lives. Practicing family law allows me to use my knowledge, experience and instincts to solve my client's legal problems. While the outcome is sometimes less than ideal, my clients always know that they are being represented diligently and that is extremely gratifying.
I am a solo practitioner. I deal with each and every client personally on a first name basis. I like to keep my practice informal and myself approachable. If you have a question, I want you to ask me your question. I may need to think about your question or research the answer, but I will always answer you.
I am independent, focused and driven. My practice focuses on my clients, their goals, and their needs.
I am a martial artist. I have studied Isshinyu Karate for over ten years and am still heavily involved in this martial art. During the course of the school year, I am an instructor at an after-school Isshinryu karate program.
I am also a pet person. I have a cat and dog. I find my furry friends to be great companions.
