Our firm was founded in Miami, Florida in 1970. Over the last 37 years, we have expanded to include 13 full-service offices throughout Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
Our firm's mission is to provide the most cost-effective, exceptional legal representation to our clients with unsurpassed personal service.
I previously practiced with the father/son team of Mabie & Mabie. For 12 years we practiced with a shared philosophy - to provide the highest level of service to each and every client. I have since joined Vernis & Bowling, and continue that commitment.
I am AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, whose ratings are based on their peer review process. "AV" is the highest rating awarded and identifies a lawyer with very high to preeminent legal ability. It reflects expertise, experience, integrity and overall professionalism - excellence as well as the highest professional and ethical standards.
The more the client understands about the law and the legal system, the more involved in the process that client becomes and the more satisfied the client will be with the experience of being a party to a legal proceeding. However, it is imperative that those seeking to educate themselves understand that lawyers educate themselves on legal issues through years of formal education and lifetimes of experience. It is also imperative to understand that "the law" is a highly intricate and complex combination of statutes, cases, precedents, doctrines, policies, and rationales. It is not easily self-taught. I make it a point to see that I have given each client the time necessary to explain available options and probable outcomes in order to help the client make decisions.
I am always available for such review.
I don't do it.
I come from a family of lawyers where the practice of law was seen as a noble undertaking. I have always looked at it that way.
For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of helping families get through what inevitably proves to be one of the more difficult times in a person's life. Many of my clients have very little experience with the legal system and I want to make their experience the best I possibly can.
It chose me. I have practiced in a wide variety of areas, and family law has given me the greatest satisfaction and greatest sense of really being able to help someone. There is great satisfaction in being able to help children and families through the difficult experience of divorce.
The thank you cards I receive after a case is over from clients who are satisfied and grateful.
My primary assistant is also my sister. Her name is Marianne, and she is always available to answer questions and make sure our clients are updated and informed on all aspects of their cases.
I am an experienced and strong advocate for my clients. However, I believe the most important trait a family lawyer can have is a sense of balance. Virtually every client wants a family case resolved as quickly as it can be. I make it a point never to forget this and to always look for an amicable out-of-court resolution sooner than later. The desire to expeditiously resolve disputes must be balanced against the need to ensure that the resolution is fair to my client. Quick is important, but so is fair. I take pride in my ability to strike that balance in a way that best suits my clients' interests.
My favorite way to spend time is with my wife and our two children. I enjoy traveling (to just about anywhere) and sporting events.
